your difference between 35i and 50i - $5k
extra gas consumption - another $5k year
speeding tickets - depends on where you drive and what color - $500 yr
feeling when you stomp on a 50i and feel and hear it - priceless

I think the speeding ticket will be a common denominator with either the 35i or the 50i.

I got the 35i and for me it definitely does it comparing to the rest of the crowd on the highway because of efficient transmission and great handling and of course the wide torque range. I enjoy it when I'm using ALL my horses and I don't think this will happen with TTV8. Maybe there was only once or twice in my 4000km that I sported the 35i to its MAX and then I wished there was more power! since X6 definitely can take it!
I believe TT6 is a good balance and you will sense this more often in town.

All that said if u want to push this thing to its limits u need a lot more, maybe 600hp! maybe X6 M?

99% of the time all having the extra ponies means is that you don't press down as hard or as long on the gas pedal. That is true even if you do push it 0 to 60 in 5.1 seconds or 60 to 90 at every opportunity. Enjoy the adrenalin feeling while it lasts because you will eventually become acclimated to it. Maybe this is sour grapes from a 35i owner who will eventuall buy a tuning package but its also the experience of someone who drove a 400 HP roller skate for a number of years. Like me in my Z you may ultimately say that your 50i can pass anything except a gas station!

I had a 645. The V8 is a double edge sword.

Yes it has more power/torque than a 6 cyl engine.

However, if you drive it in a way in which you can take advantage of the V8, your MPG will be 1/2 the rating.

I agree on getting used the power. Every car I owned with it be a 6 series, M3, 540, etc. never had enough power after the first 8 weeks of ownership. In the end the constant fill ups were more annoying than anything. It is sad when a vehicle so small, yet so heavy, gets worse mileage than a suburban.

True, but drive a suburban the SAME way you drive those other cars you mentioned and see what your mpg will be then
