BMW Ultimate Service
When I got into my new X I sure felt good about the maintenance program, knowing I would not have to spend any money on maintenance for the entire lease. Now I am coming to the realization I will be putting new tires on the X every year at $1500 a pop. 9500 miles and down to 3/32. I was told by the dealer that the X just eats tires. Live and learn. Fool me once, shame on you............

Hmm... seems a bit excessive. I have a 35d with the 336 wheels and OEM run flats. 18 months and 18,340 miles later I still have decent tread left. I think I can milk these to 23,000 miles. I do have outer edge wear on the front tires but that's normal from what I've been told and seen. I drive pretty aggressively I'll admit. Maybe you should have someone else take a measurement.

You are correct it is excessive. Which tire do you have? I need to replace soon. Assuming I got 23000 out of the second set, that would get me to 33000. My lease runs to 36000 and you need to have 4/32nds when you return the vehicle. Hence 3 sets of tires, two on my nickel. That is excessive.

Instead of , how about posting the size and brand/model of tires, at least? Not to mention there's plenty of threads about tire wear, common problems and solutions. |

A little rude I would say.
They are 20" Dunlops. I have read the other postings and just wanted to share my observation. I guess you are right I am crying about it. Enough said. Have a Happy Holiday season. |

My 2011 X5d just got new shoes at 29k. Rears looked fine, but I was told with all wheel drive vehicles you want to replace a four at the same time. Factory was Bridgestone RFT and I put the same back on. I had BMW give it an alignment after the installation even though I felt it didn't need one. All good at 30k now.
