just drove an x5 for the first time
a friend of mine let me drive his x5 (i think its an 05) to pick up some stuff from the store. there is one hell of a difference between a german truck and an american one (i have a chevy tahoe). i was so impressed with how the x5 handled compared to my truck.
i'm going to the local bmw dealership tomorrow to test drive a 330i and i'm really excited to drive a car that is put together so well. |

Who hates the 330?
It's quite the good car. EDIT: And the rule of thumb that I usually follow is--never buy the first model year of a car. In particular BMWs. If you can help it, wait until late in the 2nd model year. This means that others become in-the-field beta testers instead of you.

[obviously] i've heard a lot of good and bad things about the 335i, and i would spring for one if i had that kind of budget. however, i'm just a college kid so i'm definitely going to buy a used cpo 330i or 328i. hopefully i will be able to customize and order my next bmw!

I don't see anyone hating on the 330i, where did you get that idea?

The 2008 X5's do drive nice. I took a 270 degree on ramp at 40 and didn't feel any roll. I'm sure I could have gone much faster through it. Did the same ramp in a ML and I felt like I was gonna tip over at about 30!
The X5 3.0 is a bit underpowered. X5 4.8 is awesome (though it drinks gas like water). The X5 twin turbo diesels are awesome! For the OP, if the 335i is out of range, think of getting a basic 135. Such a nice drive. |
