Mine goes in on Feb 5th. Talked to the lead tech for about 30 minutes today and it seems like a comprehensive well orchestrated program. He told me that if they need to replace stuff they actually have to create a PUMA case to even get the parts sent to them.

Man! This was certainly a good read and to just think, I picked up a CPO 2012 550i that I yearned for for months. Glad I found a CPO car,...not sure if it's a keeper out of warranty. What happened to the built like a tank 300k BMW engine?

Just brought mine in today ..... They said about a week to 2 weeks. My advisor said they have been having a lot come in for this and all of them needed timing chains and various other work done under the "recall" so I'm eager to hear what is up with mine. ( even though it drove fine) I will keep you guys posted.

Your dealer said they need your X5 for 'a week to 2 weeks' even though they haven't looked at it yet? Or did you mean that's worse case scenario?

No they said that long just to look at it and give me an answer on what is going on. The advisor claimed after they did the test on everything.... They then send the reports to BMW in which BMW will tell them what to change at that point and send them necessary parts. He told me at the earliest it will be about 1 1/2 weeks and at longest about 2 1/2 weeks to install new parts from whatever BMW tells them to do. My advisor told me I should expect to hear from him by Wednesday or Thursday of next week on what they are advised to install to my car. I will keep you posted on when they get back to me.

OK thanks for clarifying. My SA said they'd need mine for 2 days (my appt. is next month) but that was just a few days after the bulletin was announced and they hadn't inspected any yet/didn't know much about the issues/fix. Good luck…curious to hear how it turns out.

Just had this care packaging completed... they replaced everything on my engine except timing chain.

I can confirm, my active Auto Tune was wiped clean...

Car is going to Imola Motorsports to rescan for AA. Assume they will have to make a new tune for us...

You left your tune on your car and didn't reflash to stock? How's the car running?

My Car had the AA Tune... car ran fine.

Went in for Customer Care Package, during repair, BMW updated software, removing my AA Tune... Car runs good now, just slow.

Taking it in to get a modified tune, properly adjusted for the engines adjusted parameters.

Does anyone know if the new software will wipe out any custom coding that's been done?

Be willing to bet this will be the case. I had two injectors replaced this summer and they wiped all the coding I had done. I waited to have it re-done because I had a feeling it would happen again. Glad I waited.

..........

My X5 has been in for over a week now. I guess still waiting for PUMA/approval for the last parts they need to finish work on mine.

Just curious as to what kind of loaner they gave you? Hopefully not an X1 or 3'er??? My appointment is on Feb 9 and told them to make sure I got something big enough to fit a baby seat

The service bulletin states the dealer needs to loan you something of equal quality. I requested and got a 5 series.

I asked my favorite coder "CodeMyCar - Okee" in NJ.

Here's what I asked: "Is it true that anything that has been updated since December 2014 can't be re-coded, because you need access to updated files that are now encrypted?"

He responded: "There is a lot of misinformation on the forums, which can be dangerous. Those rumors apply to Fxx vehicles only, and we have not been faced with any issues at this time but will take appropriate action when and where we need to. We have coded many vehicles that have already come from the dealer for the N63 recall (FXX and Exx)."

Glad to hear some of you guys are getting your X's in to get looked at, and also getting taken care of when it comes to loaner vehicles...

Sadly, I keep checking this thread in hopes that there's a post stating the S63 has been included in the Customer Care Package... Unfortunately, not yet.

Either way I still have all the files that Okee (www.codemycar.com) sent me, so if they end up downloading new software and it wipes out my coding, it should be a quick fix to re-code my X5. I'd probably stick an ice pick through my eye if I had to listen to that seat belt chime even once more…

At Nalley in Atlanta, they started me out in a Nissan Sentra, moved me to a pretty nice X3, and now I am in a mediocre X1. So much for comparable cars...

I dropped my car off at 8am on Monday the 19th. I'm still driving the 528 xdrive they loaned me. Not a bad car, but I can not stand how it turns off when you come to a stop.

Agreed, highly annoying.

I've had a few service vehicles lately (328i, X1) that both had that feature, but you could disable it on both vehicles. I'm sure the 528 you're driving will allow that as well. On the 328 the button to disable was right next to the start button as I recall, but on the X1 it was on the center console, down low behind the gear selector.
