Just Installed Sub And Amp JL AUDIO

What's up guys just wanna share some pics from the install I did myself. Needed some extra bass and wanted quality sound so decided to go with JL Audio.

Vehicle: 2012 X5 e70 w/ HiFi 10 speaker system
Wiring : 4guage power & ground
Fuse: AGU 80amps
Remote wire: Tapped into the 12v cigarette lighter in the rear
Subwoofer: JL Audio 10w7ae
Amplifier: JL Audio 500/1
High to Low Converter: Kicker 2 channel HI/LO

Some pics below during the install took about 2 hours. Came out great sounds good deep sound quality bass with no rattling from anywhere.

(Update) : decided to face the sub up port up than firing back to the rear hatch..for some reason it sounds a whole lot better in this type of truck. *better and less stress for our shitty loose trunk latch also that has the black tape around it smh.

Yeah but it's okay I have a second vehicle for that. Plus not married and no kids.. Might as well add one more sub!

I actually had a JL 12w6v2 in the prowedge box that takes up very little space but it sounds like a high end factory sub which I didn't want at all so sold it.

While you were back there, you should have put in a 5ch amp, or another 4ch and power the door speakers. That was the perfect place to tap into.

JL Audio used to make and sell a specific X5 kit for that very reason. They thought the door speakers were good enough, and only replaced the tweeters and a proper 2-way xover.

Their X5 specific sub is pretty sweet too, fitting under the trunk floor.

It's sounds really good for a 10. A buddy of mines had a x5 with the JL stealth box right under by the spare wheel and I didn't like it. To me it sounded like the sound was trapped underneath just rattling every thing by the spare wheel. Having a little dimming right now will be adding a cap or a small battery soon.

As for the voice yeah I want to add some mids and highs but I don't want to go through all that factory wiring and into the door panels. Might fabricate something like I did with my other truck later down the road. Something like this but smaller had this in my truck before this

Yes I was one of those crazy bass heads
