Windshield..

This is what happens when a small rock hits the windshield of a $100k truck. Now I need to find a place to replace it.

Bummer...we've all been there. I want this to happen to my M3 so I can get a new windshield on the insurance company.

If you have HUD, make sure that you get BMW OE glass (made by St Gobain). There have also been many reports that the rain sensor won't work with aftermarket glass ...

But the MOST important thing you can do is getting it installed by a glass shop who is familiar with the BMW (poly) urethane adhesive method that is required for a successful installation. A proper installation takes 2 days for the adhesive system to cure and for the glass to "set" in the frame.

Safelite and others don't know how to do this.

Garage List
Safe lite replaced my windshield 2 months ago. Did a great job and looks great. $410. Tech I had was super careful and clean. One benefit to living in North Dakota - people care.

Exactly the reason didn't get insurance coverage but, have to say my heart stops when pick up the unforgiving pea gravel graciously distributed by the city during winter time...

You actually do not know if it was done correctly, unless you familiarize yourself with the BMW glass installation requirements and ask tech how he did it and what adhesives and method he used.

Looking great does not constitute a good installation. If the job was completed within 2 hours and you were allowed to drive away, I can guarantee you that it was not done according to BMW standards.
