X5 MPG Gauge Acting Weird
I have a new BMW 2012 X5 xDrive35i Premium with approximately 800 miles. I recently began to notice that something is wrong with my MPG gauge. When I'm driving locally (anywhere b/w 10-35 mph), the gauge needle moves middle to full throttle when I'm not even pressing on the gas pedal. The engine does not rev or make any noise but the needle likes to move sporadically when I'm not pressing on the gas pedal.
For example, I'm stuck in a red light and when the light turns green, I give it a little gas to slowly accelerate > MPG gauge starts to move towards and eventually goes to full 12MPG. I then slowly brake because the subsequent light is also red > MPG needle starts to move back towards 0 and goes all the way to 0. I still have my foot on the brake because the light is still red > MPG needle then slowly begins to increase to 30-20MPG mark and slowly moves to full 12MPG mark. I NEVER LET GO OF THE BRAKES DURING THIS TIME. Does this appear to be normal? Is this possibly due to my car not being fully broken in? Any insight/personal experience would be great, thanks. |

May be an issue with your gauge cluster... I would recommend going to the dealer ASAP. This is not Normal. I have never had that happen on my '11 X5.
