BMW Perf Grille Change....new wheels on the way!!!!

I was going back and forth on whether to change these but thanks to all those that posted I thought I would join the BMW Performance Grille Club!! I am actually surprised at the difference it makes in real life as opposed to pics. Thanks for all the AW pics that pushed me over the edge on this one. There was some confusion (maybe just me!) on what grilles I was going to get. The chrome surround came on my Feb '13 built '13 M Sport. So, the LCI Perf Grille surround is identical in size to that if that clears anything up.

Now, my new wheel set is on the way. Fedex is only 1 state away so I should get them tomorrow! It's been a long wait since they left CA last week. I haven't seen anyone put this OEM style set on yet, so maybe I'm the first putting F15 wheels on an E70? I'll post pics tomorrow. But for now, a little before (299M will turn into winter set) and what is coming!

Grilles look good - pretty big difference. Lets see the new wheels when you get them. Which tires are you running for the winter 299?

Very nice, the 299M wheels look great. Any modifications needed in order to fit those?

How are things going? I wasn't thinking about winter until that 469 set came around to me with summer Dunlops. I've got an eye on a set of winter Toyos that are stock 275/40 and 315/35 but I will likely wait and order in the summer when new winter tires are ordered. I have found a good outlet that is really competitive if you're interested shoot me a PM.

I got the X5M wheels from SouthShoreM3 and had Performance Motorsports in Nevada make some custom spacer/adapters. The front wheels are same fit as M but the rear hub on the M is 72.56 vs 74.1 for the non-M vehicles. I had a 15mm spacer with a hub adapter built in. Longer bolts and good to go! Any X5M or X6M wheels can be used on an X5 with these adapters. And they are machined well. I believe H&R has an adapter also, but it's not specific for the E70 chassis. It works though.

Things are good. I haven't had the chance to Opti Coat the 298Ms yet. I also want to change from the stock grilles, but nobody has the new style grilles with the bend in them. I can send mine in to get painted but I would have to wait to get them back before driving. Driving without them would look pretty weird.

The h&r ones were originally mean for e39 which has the same 74.1 hub.
They made normal ones that will need supers toy purchased bolts.
They work fine though.
They also make dra spacers that bolt to the hub but since they are for e39 the thread pitch I believe is different, but I have not checked for sure

Cool, thanka for the info. Curious to see what the F15 wheels will look like on the E70. My X5 looks the exact same as yours and my father's F15 has the same wheels as what you purchased. Where did you get them from by the way?

So the new wheels arrived in tact and I started to switch out today. I got the two fronts changed out and my wheel lock key sheared off! Damn I said. At least it's torqued down. But the new key won't be here until tomorrow so this is as far as I got. Look good though, don't you think?

Well, acutally i grew a brain and put the rears on also. Just didn't have the key to put lug number 5 in so I won't drive it until tomorrow when the key arrives. I added H&R DRA 25mm spacers in the rear. It's almost to the flush point.

Thanks. I'll have it out tomorrow after I get the UPS package with the wheel lock key. I think I'm going to buy an extra one in case this happens again. Lesson learned.

I have a box of H&R springs ready to install also and I think that will look great. Just have to find an install shop and the time. We live in what some would call "rural" so there's not many shop options close.

Crazy to hear about the key - never heard of that happening before.

Pretty nasty spring weather here, so not such a good time for pics. Here's a couple though. Ride is as expected. The rear spacers have no negative impact on the drive.

I don't remember exactly. But, it was an eBay seller BMW dealer. That's a good place to start.
