Unicorn Hunting for X5M

Hey guys, longtime lurker and BMW owner. Looking for 2010/11/12 X5M in Melbourne Red would love to have beige/bamboo interior Active /ventilated seats a must. Prefer mileage below 50k. CPO or extended warranty a plus.

Been looking for a year and only found two, both were junk.
Any leads would be awesome. Thanks in advance!

Good luck! I looked for a red one for over a year before I bought my 50i. It's a unicorn, especially with ventilated seats!

The Active Ventilated Seat package is pretty common on the X5M, so it's just finding the Bamboo interior.

I'm sure you saw the 5 on Autotrader? 4 of the 5 have the Active Ventilated Seat Package. Of those 4, 3 have black interior and 1 has Bamboo, but mileage is 64K and you were wanting less than 50K. Bummer too, as this looks like a pretty rare combo.

Miles are over your preferred mileage, but everything else checks out.

Here's one we have here in Vancouver. It may be a bit of a pain to import to the US, considering the cluster is in KM/H, but the savings could be worth it, given the CAD is so low compared to USD...
It's a 2012, red on black. 80k km or 50k miles. They are asking $59k CAD, which at today's exchange is about $45k USD

You're 'hunt' should be easy - especially if you'll take black over black, those X5M's are plentiful. Honestly, that's not much of a hunt

777man specified in his original post that he wanted Bamboo interior with the Active Ventilated Seat Package. This X5M has black interior and does not have the Active Ventilated Seat Package.

Although the combination is plentiful, finding one locally with mileage under 50k has been nearly impossible. lol

Okay I'll give you that!

Don't be afraid to ship one though - it's really not that much $ and it opens up your options a lot. X5s in general are not that plentiful, especially if you're picky on color/year/packages/options. I was definitely picky, I had a specific configuration in mind - it took me 10 months and shipping from out of state, but it was all worth it.

When I search BMWUSA.com E70 X5M's, there's quite a few black on black, many of which are CPO. CPO's are pretty safe to purchase sight unseen….IMO.

Concur with jiggz, if I wanted Black on Black I could have had that truck first day as they are everywhere. Thanks for the lead on the one in VC but Vent. Seats are a must. The search continues...........

For the most part, yes, but ... there is one critical area where the CPO is inadequate, even though they have a check box for it on p.2, and that is windshields. A comment must be made by the technicians doing the CPO if the windshield meets BMW Guidelines and Standards ...

Problem is that that from a technicians point of view, if the glass has been replaced but meets DOT standards, which ALL automotive glass must do in order to be sold in the US, it qualifies for CPO and the box is checked. Problem often is that it is not necessarily the glass that is inadequate, but the method used to install the glass!

So always check whether or not the windshield is BMW original or if it has been replaced. If it has, ask lots of questions!

Dealers around here will not CPO a car if the windshield needs replacing. If it already has been replaced ...? They'll check the box!

Yea, I agree. Already have plans to powder coat them or go aftermarket, haven't decided. For the mean time I ordered a plasti-dip wheel kit and I am going to spray them in anthracite grey.

They will be this color by next week.
