Rebuilding Bmw x5m engine

whats up everyone I can use some help from mechanics or anyone with knowledge about these engines.

I recently purchased a 2013 x5m from an auction with 58k. Unfortunately the deal was too good to be true and I had a mechanic look at the car and he said the engine is seized. he looked at the oil and there was barley any oil in the car and it wouldn't turn by hand.
I was looking into options on replacing the motor with a used one but I can't find the exact motor anywhere and I wanted to see if anyone knows how long a rebuild should take. I was quoted 57 hours to take the motor out of the car, rebuild it and put it back in the car. this is not including parts of course.
Is 57 hours reasonable? also I know we won't know until we see are inside the car to see what parts it needs but what is the average cost of rebuilding this motor...?
anyones help that has some expertise would be great!

He said 57 hours not 57 thousand dollars. I tried to make myself consider how this would be reasonable but I have no clue why you’d spend that much on a new engine when you could just buy a newer car or get your current engine built to stock or lower spec for less. OP, is this for you or to resell?

Talk to my buddy Troy Jeup. He’s known for rebuilding S85 engines but is now rebuilding the V8 twin turbos. He has done some amazing stuff.

I don’t mean to be pedantic, but how did this happen in the first place? Did the car not drive across the block at the auction? This may be a teachable moment for others...

Bump for info, always good to have a BMW only builder on tap.

I looked into http://metricmechanic.com when I lost the engine in my E34 M5 but never went through with it. I've had an M62 rebuilt by www.bavengine.com back in the day and they did great work, but I've heard that they've gone away from being in-house. Either way it's a starting point.

thanks for feedback , I'm not sure who troy is but it would be nice if someone can point me in his direction.

this is the most reasonable I've seen so far I've already contacted them. Unfortunately I'm in New York and they are on OKC.. if I cannot find someone closer I will consider sending them my car.

Curious, did you get the car at a manheim auction? did the seller green light it? You had an opportunity to give the car back after doing this inspection

You aren't going to need all new parts and build from the crate. Use what you have in front of you and improve on the known weaknesses.

I have contacted you guys on facebook, I got pricing at $8500 for a rebuild plus 2000 for handling the engine in and out of the car.

Troys pricing was 6500(best case scenario)- to 8500(worst case scenario) plus 1500 for handling the engine.

Im looking for a good stock build and both seem reputable but I'm looking to save money as well if I can.

Ghassan, id be careful soliciting services on here if you haven’t registered as a vendor. Admins are quick to ban or impose infractions. Just giving you a heads up.
