Pretty sure everyone is running shocks! How else would an X5M dampen the compressions and expansion of an airbag spring?

From my understanding, and I could be be wrong, the rear airbags are your “springs” and there are no “shocks”

Not every car has air springs, but every car has shocks.

You put Dinan springs on your Golf R or you had H&R springs/links on your X5M and switched to Dinan? Either way I'm sure the Golf is springs on all 4 corners vs the X5M is springs in the front and links in the rear to control the airbags...you're comparing apples to oranges. It's been discussed here that so long as there's a little forward rake that it'll completely transform the ride from overly bouncy (bags are too deflated) to perfect. I've towed (20's and 22's) and taken mine from Seattle to Hollywood (22's only) for Bimmerfest twice and the ride is completely fine.

I absolutely understands how it works brother, BUT i will not be giving my business and or taking a risk with H&R for the time being. I Went from stock to H&R on my Golf R and will be soon going to VWR Springs. Dinan doesn't make suspension products for the Golf R.

I am only here to contribute My experiences with H&R. Everyone has different experiences and different thresholds to how they feel in the car with a certain suspension system installed.

Thanks for the feedback though and i'll keep ya'all updated IF i purchase the X5M i am wanting to buy. Thanks.

Currently on the H&R 1.2" setup at ~66mm rear links. Couldn't be happier with the stance or the ride quality.

H&R 2” drop with rear air bag and it’s awesome. Bilstien B8’s in the front. No bounce and perfect ride.

You can't make everyone happy...Some people out there call Rolex's junk. Nothing wrong with H&R as a brand. Ride comfort is subjective, Dinan is notoriously one of the most tame and close-to-stock available, ideal for owners who find sportier suspensions uncomfortable.

Seems like you did change your decision, didn't you?

Would 1.2'/M5 comp bump stop put an extra stress on the rear airbags though?

Yes I did. The dinan just didn't lower the car enough to give it that OE+ look for me. The H&R 1.2" kit (actual lowering is close to 1.5") is pretty good. I am starting to wonder how Good the KW V3's would be but right now I still have to do trans service and stage one tune so KWs will have to wait. I'm very satisfied with the ride at the moment.

Just ordered the H&R 1.2 for the F85. It's the best option for sure.

Cost is unbeatable. The stance is PERFECT. The best part, really the most satisfying, is that it's low enough for car guys to appreciate that it is in fact lowered, and it's not too low to look obvious. Honestly, if they charged double what they do I'd pay just for the looks/performance/ease/etc...

For the F85 the minimum lowering kit they sell is 1.5". It'll be fine you'll like it.

Are you certain??

It says on their website and a few other places 1.3F 1.3R while the VTF minimum is 1.4.

I hope you're wrong! But if it is 1.5 and it doesn't settle any past that, it'll be fine.

Oh I'm so sorry I meant 1.3" and settled 1.5". Inflate your tires to factory spec, drive car back and forth a bit then measure from center of center cap to edge of fender as that is the way H&R recommends.

Totally cool. If it settles like my E70 did I will be a very very happy guy.
