Camouflaged M5 in France

Just spotted this car testing in the Aix/Marseille TGV station last weekend.
Quad pipes, Carbon ceramics, four door.
What do you guys think it is?

Looks too big to be an M3. I say M5

Sure looks like an M5. I'd venture it is an older test vehicle and they didn't bother to remove the camo. The plate number is very close to this "official" prototype from way back in May 2017 (which has identical camo):

Do they have dealer or manufacturer plates, like in the USA? Those can be swapped among cars that aren't currently registered.
