Recalls and Problems

Hey guys, I am new to the forum. I am the current owner of a 135i but am seriously considering selling to buy a X5 35d. I need the added utility of an SAV and love the diesel engine BMW has made.

My one concern is that I will most likely be buying a used 2010 (maybe 2011) model, however I want to get y'alls feed back as to problems or recalls these cars have experienced.

The X5 is much more complicated than my 135i: air suspension, iDrive, tons more electronics, sunroof, etc....

I am just worried about switching from my 135i (which has not caused me 1 single problem in 4 years) to a very technologically advanced engine and car!

Any help would be much appreciated!

PS - I am looking for a heavily optioned (premium package, sports package, LED corona eyes, and 214 rim option) X5 35d either 2010 or 2011...if anyone is wanting to sell or if you are aware of one!

Thanks in advance!

You didn't ask but...

Get the X5 but if you can, keep your 135. They are both great vehicles but you will miss driving your 135 so if you have the means...

I would love too! lets see if i can make that happen...

I chose the diesel X5 though because it seems to hold residual value much better than other engine models. Correct?

I have an '08 135i and '09 X35d. I enjoy having both. Best of both worlds. X5d is the best BMW I've ever had, my fourth BMW. The 135i is fun to drive, but as a daily driver (I'm in sales, do about 40k miles per year) the X5d can't be beat for comfort and fuel economy. I frequently get 33mpg on freeway at 75mph and 24-26mpg in stop and go Seattle traffic.

I agree! I had 09 135 and now I have 11 1M and 11 X5d and the combo is awesome and about the perfect balance!

I haven't gotten (yet) 33 mpg/24-26 mpg but hope I do as they "lossen-up" abit.

I completely agree.

What is the most common problem with the X5d? I know for the 135i it has a fuel pump issue. I'm just trying to figure out the problems these cars have.
