opinions on best non run flat tire for 35i sport

Looking for suggestions for the best NON RUN FLAT replacement tire for a 2012 35i sport (staggered 275/315 set up). If anyone has any experience or opinions with non run flat tires for the X5 please let me know.

Thanks!

I installed a set of Pirelli Scorpion Verde and I love them. Smooth ride, quiet, solid connection to the road and improved handling compared to the Conti run flats I had. I don't know if they are available in the sizes you need - mine are 255/50/19.

i just had to replace the Bridgestone run-flats on mine, and I replaced them with the same. the non run-flat options were only about $10 cheaper per tire, so I didn't even bother

Just replaced my tires today with Continental DWS tires, super smooth and quiet tire. Paid $250 per tire.

Michelin Pilot sports are great tires but a lil more expensive

Hi there, I too have a 2010 X5 50i m-sport with 275 / 315 setup but wanted to upgrade the tyre size to non run flats on the 20 inch. I want to raise the sidewall height i.e 275/45 or 275/50 so it can be better on the road comfort side. Please advise what sizes if anyone has tried and also what to look out within x drive system.

I took my RFT off before I took delivery of my 2012 35i. I went with the toyo proxes st II tire. They have the 275/315 size you need. They're a high performance all season. After the 5000 miles I've driven on them I can say this. Excellent in pouring down rain driving 80mph. I actually had to slow down due to not being able to see, maintained full traction. Super quiet and smooth on concrete and asphalt roads. No tram lining. I've read a lot of good reports on snow and ice, but I personally haven't driven on any frozen stuff yet. Tread wear is 420. Make sure you get the XL rated tire for the stiffer sidewall and better handling. About $900-950 a set, shipped. If you don't want an all season. Michelin pilot super sports are an excellent choice if you live where you don't have any frozen precipitation. They're good in rain and are very quiet. Treadwear is 220 I believe?

I've also got the Contis and am very happy with them.

What is the difference between tread wear 420 and 220? It looks like the Contis are like 12 or 13 pounds per tire lighter than the stock run flats. That is a huge difference.

Thanks for all the replies.

420 should last almost twice as long as a 220, if they're both from the same manufacturer. Higher the number, the longer it should last but this can very between manufacturers.

If you want something more indepth: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tirete....jsp?techid=48
