Non-RFTs on X5?
I have a 328xi and really do not like the RFTs. It feels like I'm driving on cement tires. So, I am planning on switching out the RFTs for inflatable tires when I take delivery of my X5. Any experience with how the ride quality changes with non-RFTs? Thanks.

I switched to Pirelli Scorpion Verde regular tires. The ride is noticeably improved, even when I have Adaptive Drive which makes the car smoother riding to begin with. This tire not only gives me a better ride but better handling as well. The OEM RFTs I removed were Continental 4x4 Contact SSR 255/50/19.

It is worth it. I did this 3 weeks ago. I also bought the spare kit, just in case.
The road noise has reduced substantially. The ride is much better and not as stiff as it uses to be. This is on my '10. I wish I had done this a while ago. |
