Exclamation Buying 2007 X5 4.8i Sport - Advise needed

Hi Guys,

I am planning to buy my first ever 2007 X5 4.8i Sport. I test drove one yesterday , it had done 57000 kms, but i found that steering was very heavy at low speeds, is that normal? i didnt get any noises from power steering pump or belt. I had Range Rover 4.4 HSE before, and steering on that was just like a car even at low speed. It had standard 19" alloys, with rather wide tires.

Please let me know any other mechanical and electrical issues i need to watch out for.

It has full dealer service history and I am in Dubai, UAE.

I just bought one a few months ago. Great truck! In the info screen you can check if any services are due soon - it's not cheap to do things like breaks. I agree with the previous comment about the steering fluid - have it checked at the dealer.

See if this X5 has active steering (or whatever they call it) because mine does and it's only 2 full turns lock-lock rather than 3 so it really turns easy in parking lots and at low speeds - then it adjusts for higher speeds so it isn't loose. Great steering in my opinion.

The Range Rover Sports I drove had really loose steering - very easy to turn but very poor feel.

Hope you like it! I love mine!

Most likely normal. Big tires and heavy vehicle. Mine (2008 4.8i) feels heavy as well, at low speeds.
