Got my X6M Lowered - H&R 2" Drop

Got my car lowered yesterday and I must say that it really gives the car a more aggressive look - as well as closing up that horrific wheel gap i had before. I have self-leveling so the H&R set came with two front springs and two rear linkages for the air suspension. At first, we installed the front and put the car back to the ground to see if the car would lower the rear by itself - it didn't. The rear linkages were a rear easy install. Just remove the OEM's and bolt on the H&R ones. Didn't even need to take off the rear wheels.

The car still rides really well. I didn't notice any difference between stock and after lowering which is good. Love the way it looks now!

Nice mod and i am happy you like it. Question though. One of the reason that many people buy a x6 is due to the nice high ride height. So why on earth do you want to lower it!!!

The car is still high enough to where it clears everything - i still don't need to worry about the car being too low for anything. After I got my wheels on, the wheel gap was so big that it looked weird. Everyone has their own preferences - this happens to be mine.

i understand. Did the wheel gap size change after you put on the new wheels? Because normally even if you get bigger wheels, the total diameter of the wheels + tyre does not change (tyre height reduces) otherwise your speedometer reading will be wrong.

The wheel gap dropped about 1.5 inches. It should settle even more after i break it in.

Technically speaking, even if you change the tyres say from 19" to 20" or 22"
(with adjusted aspect ratio accordingly) your speedometer will be lying a bit. In my case:

Old size: 255/50/19" (stock)
New size: 285/30/22"
Speedometer reading with non-stock tyre is 1.1% too fast.

Visually the wheel gaps did not really change, the wheels are just bigger.

Can you post the part # for the H&R's? Where did you get the black kidney grilles and clear side markers? I know several places that carry them just curious where you bought them from.

I don't have the part# for the H&R's. My shop just ordered them for me. As for the black kidney grill and the side markers, I got them from ebay. There are a lot of listings for the matte black grill but for the clear side markers, search for ebay member "roveractive" He was the only one selling them - heres the link:

Thanks! I see what wheels you are running but what about tire sizes? It looks like you've got some good side wall! I'm still debating about going 22 or staying with stock size 20s. My wife drives it mainly!

bleudyno, the car looks great. I have just ordered the same H+R kit for self leveling suspension. I was told that only the front could be lowered 2", and the rear would be around 1.2". Does it look like you have an even drop front and rear? With the rear, you said it was simple. Just put on the links and it was good to go. Nothing else had to be done to the rear? Did it lower anymore by itself once the links were put in and the car lowered to the ground. I appreciate your response, thanks

What was the part#? 50435-2? I'm being told that kit isn't even available yet. Where did you purchase? Thanks

The part is available, I have it sitting in my buddy's shop (he ordered it, I don't have the numbers)ready to be installed. Try another source...

bluedyno - I registered to send you a PM but apparently I need to make some posts first... In short, I have a very similar setup as you and my wheels/tires/springs were installed this weekend. Other Vorsteiner parts are being produced and will arrive in several weeks. I have some questions for you on the H&R setup (dealer installed front springs and rear linkages) that maybe you can answer. Please send me a PM when you see this. I would like to pick your brain on a few things. Thx in advance.
