My wife drives 2000 miles / month, mainly stop and go, local traffic picking up kids taking them to after school classes, piano, drawing, writing etc etc etc... you get the idea. She was driving her Cayenne S which only gets about 14-15 mpg, now with the Prius she is averaging 35-43 mpg, she is super happy especially she hates to stop at a gas station to fill up gas. Her car is always the one that's on fumes then she tells me she needs gas. Now we only drive the Prius on the weekends, and on long 100 mile trips to visit grandma. Last 100 miles trip I got over 50 mpg, there is a specific driving technique with the Prius to get maximum MPG, doesn't mean you have to drive slow just need to know how. The Prius owners you see blocking the left lane are the ones who is trying to get 75 mpg out of them. Which you will never find me doing that.
On a side note, since my wife is suck a speedy Gonzales I just ordered a license plate frame that says "Don't laugh, my other car is a Ferrari". :P |
