True, true. I personally won't keep mine the second warranty runs out. I have a 2011 with 55K miles, and the A/C evaporator core just went out. Supposedly a very expensive fix, but covered under warranty. My buddy had to pay $4K out of pocket for it.

Car back

The car is back and running good.

Here is a peek of the warranty have on the deal with 30 days cancellation.

I paid $3000 for the Premium 4yrs/50k miles.

Also I need to buy at least 2 front tire to match the rear one has front and rears are different brand, that cause the transfer case failed, as we discussed before.

front, Maytag and Achilles desert hawk on the rear. The rear are newest that the front so Im trying to finde two front 275/40R/20 but tire track doesn't have them.

I found them here and they are the match for the rear ones. Same Diameter 728mm.

275/40R20 106XL V8.1mm 728mm 278mm 9J, 9½J, 10J, 10½J,
315/35R20 110XL V8.7mm 728mm 320mm 10½J, 11J, 11½J, 12J, 12½J

due to connotation alone I'd never buy a tire made by "Achilles."

Why not buy a set of Bridgestones or Continentals?

Is Achilles that bad? I mean I know Bridgestones and Continentals are better, but as they are new tires, I'm trying to wear them first and just buy 2 front now that will be cheaper than buying a set of 4 having 2 new tires already. I don't care about feeling or noise for now I just need them to be the same diameter to prevent any other failure.

Is this the 3rd party warranty your BMW dealer was selling? Did you consider Route66?

Yeap. They contacted Route 66 but they told them that they only sales warranty through credit union bank.

On July 4th, I noticed that I had a bubble on my front left tire. Since I was in the middle of a road trip and have hundreds of miles left to travel, I was not about to risk a blowout. The tire that had a bubble was an OEM Bridgestone tire. I called around, and the only place that had something in the same size was over an hour away and it was at NTB. The tire, same size as OEM, was a Sumitomo tire. Drives just fine, but now that you're talking about your transfer case going back due to have tires from a different brand, I'm wondering if I should hurry up and swap it back to an OEM Bridgestone.

Well man, what i know is that different brands has different diameter and tread. My dealer ship told me that the different on all of that made the transfer case failed. I'm not taking any more risk and I'm buying the front ones to match the rear.

Whether the tires are different brands or not, I don't see how BMW can blame transfer case failure on that premise if the outside diameter is the same...

You could contact DCU or one of the many other credit unions that sell Route66 - it only cost me $5 to open an DCU account...

I mean, although I have one Bridgestone and one Sumitomo in the front, the X5 drives perfect. NTB did scuff my front wheel though

Mine was driving perfect too. So that what they said to me so I really don't know if its true or no. Also if you can find the diameter on both tires and are the same, I guess you should be fine.

Yea, I don't know either if it is the cause or no and I don't know the outside diameter either, so I bought the match one for my front.

different brands have different molds and different real outside diameters, no matter what the size stamped on the sidewall says.

But I'm with you on this at the same time. A small difference in rolling diameter would seem unlikely to grenade a transfer case to me. Isn't the rule of thumb 5% is allowable?

Agree with this. That's like having an old OEM 275/40/20 up front and a brand-spanking new one on the other side.

Here is what Suncoast Credit Union, my bank offers. Less money for more cover time.

CUNA Mutual Group Warranty. Which one will you select Gold or Platinum? and which option. Thanks

No idea - depends on what you want, and how much you're willing to pay. Here, platinum appears to be the exclusionary warranty. I've never heard of this warranty company, so can't comment on how "good" they are.

Any decent tire will give you the rotations per mile spec , using that information along with tire size should get you where you need to be.
