X5 35d - Tax Credit Help Needed!

Purchased the 2010 x5 35d and claimed for the $1800 Advanced lean burn tax credit, but I am now being denied by the IRS for the credit because I failed to supply a "Manufacturer's Certification"

I've shown IRS various sites evidencing the vehicle's qualification:
http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/taxLeanburn.shtml
http://www.irs.gov/businesses/corpor...214283,00.html

I've contacted my dealership, BMW of North America and even Spartanburg, but no one has been able to help.

Anyone know what or where I can get a "Manufacturer's Certification"???

- desperate for help.

I did. It appears i was lucky enough to get audited and as a result, they're requesting this Manufacturer's Certification.

Appreciate it. Nice knowing i'm not the only one going through this. I'm following up on that post to see where that led to.

If anyone else come cross this thread with the same dilemma, please do share how you ended up addressing this w/the IRS. Thank you.

Possible Resolution

forget trying to reason or debate with the IRS - its a dead end.

The good news is that enough customers have contacted BMW about this and they are aware of the IRS request. On my last attempt with BMW of North America, i was able to reach a rep named 'Bobbi' that was able to provide the needed Manufacturer's Certification.

I've since fwded this to the IRS.. awaiting response.
