Michelin vs Continental vs Nitto

OK...I'm looking for honest opinions before I decide what tires to buy...I just got a set of the 20" style 333M wheels (20x10 front & 20x11 rear) and I'm not sure which tires to run but I do know that I don't want run flats...the Michelin Lat Tour HP's are my first choice and I can get a set for $1400 mounted and balanced...the Conti DWS and Nitto Motivo I can get for under $1000 mounted and balanced. So my questions is, are the Michelin's worth spending the additional $400? I will be making the purchase for the tires tomorrow. Thanks in advance for all opinions.

No bad choices here, but I just put a set of 20" DWS on 299M wheels on the GF's X5 last Saturday. Same choices as you, but we went with DWS based upon the great set on my X5M.

You really can't go wrong with the DWS. Its a great price that has proven itself time And time again

The Michelins dont meet the load rating for the rears do they? Spec is to have 110 and arent the Mich tires 106?

I have the Nittos on 299s and only 1,000 miles so far but i would give them a thumbs up.

Motivo

I'm running the Motivo's on my X5M. Great tire, solid responsive turn-in, quiet, great ride.
Excellent in rain, good in snow but the foot print on any of these tires is not optimal for really heavy snow.

I have the Motivos on my wife's X and they are good tires for sure. I've also had the DWS on different cars and they are nice as well. Save the money and get one of those - my opinion.

I have heard that you lose grip with the Contis. I want a non RFT that has at least amount of grip but the same performance in the rain as the stock RFTs and I don't care about snow.

I would say whichever tire gives the most dry grip for the dollar given your location.

If you were in the Northern half of the country I would say DWS, no question, no other logical option due to wet performance.

but in San Diego, you don't really need to worry about that!

Yeah, I agree...I'm in Sacramento and our weather is not as good as San Diego but we don't have real winters here either...it rarely even drops below 30 degrees here.

update

I got the Nitto tires mounted Wednesday and I must say that I'm impressed so far...these tires compliment the X5 very well! I will post pics sometime this weekend after I give the rig a good bath.

I looked up the Motivo tires for my X6M and they say they don't have comparable sizes?

Let's see a picture from the rear or rear side. I'd like to see if these tires still have that "block" look the RFTs do...

I can tell you that they don't have that same look as the RFT's but I will snap a pic to post when I get a chance
