What pisses me off is, he's still hesitant on something about the car, I think ultimately, he doesn't want it, but his wife wants it. He wants a good deal, but won't believe me the seller is taking about a $3k haircut on it. Further, this is his first time into any car that costs more than $25k...so he's hesitant on buying a used luxury car with high mileage. (I can't blame him, but I have been advising him on all of this, and if you buy new luxury cars, you'll get killed on depreciation).

I keep telling him, don't kill the deal, I told him the combo of options on that car, I know at least 5 people on various BMW forums looking for this car.

I don't have the VIN, I'll post it after the sale so not to jeopardize his deal.
You should point him to this thread to help him understand that he's sitting on a rare combo at a great price. Do post details once the transaction closes (for some reason, I thought you mentioned your cousin bought the car already..)

well I thought he closed the deal yesterday. Then last night he called me and gave me the story of the renegotiation (it's a long story), I told him that I was nervous that the seller didn't ask for a deposit to hold the car after they agreed on a price over the weekend.

He's just bone headed and don't know about the car. I'm preaching him till I'm blue in the face last night to do the deal regardless of $35.5 or $33.5 or any price in between. If he let's it fall thru, I'm thinking of buying it and flipping it.

I hear it is cheaper to certify cars as Elite. I've also read reports that you can pay the dealer some $$ to "upgrade" to regular CPO.
Correct ... CPO Elite, not "Lite".

Thanks for the correction.

That's an excellent price! Going price at Manheim auction is about $28K to $30K depending ....

- Did he buy this from a BMW dealer for $33.5K?
- If the dealer got it for $28K, did a CPO for $2K and had no other expense, other than Manheim fees (about $350 and transport about $600), then the dealer made only $2,500 on this deal ... Oh, and the 2 yr maintenance plan is also worth about $2,200 ... So, no profit for the dealer. Very unusual ..., but possible.
- Are you referring to OE warranty (4yrs/50K)? Couldn't be because the production date of this car is 20.08.2011, so the time is up ...

This was a private deal.
The warranty was the balance of a dealer-sold private warranty (assurant?). The maintenance was the balance as well. I think the private warranty was tacked on in 2013, and added 2 years to the original warranty.

Overall, he got a great deal. The only knock on this car is the 18 inch wheels, which is a blessing in disguise as it's cheaper tire replacement cost, and the interior needed a professional detail. It looked gross.

I have a dark blue, 2012 X5d with Adaptive Drive. Well optioned, third row. 40k on odometer so still in warranty. Lease is up and it's being turned in this or next week as I have a new 2016 40e arriving to replace. Loved the AD; bought it sight unseen and thought it was worth every penny. Thought about buying out my car but I wasn't sure how much profit if any was to be had with taxes. I know AD is rare as few dealers even knew about option or even cared. Interesting to see how rare it is.
