New Owner

I'm in the process of purchasing a CPO. 2011 3.5 Vermillion Red with 32,000 on it. Being in New England of course, I'm questioning two things. Should I get the Tire and Wheel protection and what about the Xzilon Interior and Exterior appearance protection. I know the runflats and rims can be expensive if they need replacement, but they want $1700 for the Tire and Wheel. $1000 for the Interior/Exterior package. Thoughts?

Congrats on the fine purchase. IMHO I live in Iowa and our streets are the worst maybe ever. I run custom wheels and stock wheels depending on the cars. I just try and watch where I'm going to avoid the holes. I'll probably jinks myself now but I have never damaged a wheel in 40 years of driving in the midwest. Amazingly neither has my wife! I guess I would save the money and if something did happen there are lots of takeoff wheels and tires around that could lower your replacement costs. I would do the interior and exterior protection myself. There is a wealth of information in the detail forum section on this subject. Enjoy your new ride. We love ours!

I bought on the previous 535xi and worked wonders as replaced 2 tires for free. With the X5M did it as well and haven't found an issue yet. Check the cost of tires and do the math, BMW doesn't fix tires but replace them.

I've owned it for a total of 3 days and it's awesome. I have a 2001 325ci and my wife has a 2011 328xi. We had a Volvo wagon for the long trips to the Outer Banks, Cape Cod, etc. Got rid of the wagon and now I am completely in love with the X5 and its refinement and handling. Looking forward to holding onto this baby for awhile. I ended up not getting the Tire and Wheel package, but did go with the interior and exterior package (which includes road rash on the rims). With kids, the interior protection was a must. Thanks again.
