Picked up CPO xDrive35d SAV

Hello all,
I am new to the X forum. I am usually on the M3 E90 forum. I just picked up a CPO 2011 xDrive35d with 27K miles on it and loaded with all the packages. Still under factory warranty and got CPO till 2017. Its Platinum Grey Metallic with Oyster interior.

Came over from a E90 M3 so I don't know much about the X5. Let me know what upgrades or mods you guys suggest. This is my DD although I work from home

Attached are some pics while at the dealership waiting for a detailing.

Love it, congrats... Now lets get to work what are u looking for? Diesel engine, theres really not that much for it. If im not mistaking bms has a tune for that engine. Wheels Look like u have 19s could go for 20s if want. Headlights u could swap out ur headlight for the led coronas like the newer bmws or u could get the lux led rings bulbs like most ppl here did.... Theres plenty things to do to these cars but it all ends at how much you willing to spend...

Thanks, well my weekend car is a m3 that has alot of mods on it. This is a family hauler so not a whole of crazy stuff. Some mods like wheels, lights, and maybe a tune with dinan stuff. A tow kit to haul a boat maybe. I will do a Beltronic STI-R plus with the display in the rear view mirror. That's about it.

I have installed the same system with laser jammers on the M3. I'm not sure how to do it on the X5 yet. I think it should be pretty similar, getting the wire along the firewall. I will be doing this next week and let u know how it was done.

Mind if I ask what you paid? I'm looking to pick up something similar, and I'm still in "what model year should I buy based on my budget" phase.

Terry has a tune for the 35d that gives you 60whp and 100torques for $279.

That's a no brainer.

I've been using his JB4 on my 335i for years and never had a problem.

A tune is an absolute must for a diesel you will love it. I also put 20" OEM 214 wheels on mine along with the OEM sport fender flares. It improves the look a lot.

Before

After

I added 20mm rear spacers after the pictures were taken

it was in those pictures with H&R springs the 1.2" but since then I put it back to stock height. It was lowered on 22" wheels and the wife didnt like it so I put it back to stock height and the OEM 20" wheels when I got my X5M.

Ur truck looks awesome. How stiff does the ride feel with the 20" wheels?

It might have already been mentioned, but I'd add the fender flares and add some nice 20" OEM wheels. That will visually completely change the vehicle. Then get rid of that steering wheel and install a nice M Sport version.

ATX?

Do you live in ATX? I think I met you at the dealership - I was asking how much you were trading in the M3 for?

I was actually there in the morning before you to buy your X5 but they said it was already sold - it was a strange deal.

I took mine off and put ones like yours on. The running boards only function is to get your pant legs dirty when you step out of the vehicle. My wife complained about them and I kind of ignored her but the first day I drove it I stepped out and got my pant leg all dirty. They were gone shortly after that, it sounds trivial but it was annoying.

Hi, yea I remember you! You test drove a black X5 that day. The sales guy did tell me that some did test drive the X5 D that other day and wanted to sleep on it. Sorry it happened that way but that X5 D was loaded and the deal was so good that I bought it on the spot.

Did you end up buying a X5?

Thanks, I think I won't get the running boards.

I really liked the look of them but they are too narrow to be useful and too wide to not rub your leg on when getting out. If you live in a dry climate it might not be an issue? We have 6 months of winter so the running boards have road grime on them most of the year.

My X5 D came with the Adaptive Drive and since I have never driven one with or without before, I cant say much but I have to say that this X5 handles corners like so well. Almost forgot it was a 5000lb truck! Also love the Heads Up Display and the Sports Seats. The amazing torque! I was very close to getting a X5 5 but I am glad I got the X5 D!!
