I'm sort of thinking about this X6
Hey guys! I'm new to X6's but not to BMW's. I've had 5 in the past 10 years from 3 series, 5 series to a Z4. Anyway, I've started looking at X6's and I've found 2 that caught me eye...2009 X6 50i with 56,260 miles for $34250 & a 2012 35i with 62,000 miles for $35,999. The 2012 is pretty high on miles though.
What do you guys think? I am clueless when it comes to these cars. I'm just starting my research! Both of these cars are on cars.com. Thanks! |

I'm just getting out of a 2012 X6 with 61k miles to avoid maintenance and gas costs. My experience is that the 2009 X6 5.0 will start to cost cash - my 2012 did with highway miles only. Some people may have different experiences but i decided on a 2014 3.5 X6 with 100k/6yr warrantee for my replacement. Great car and no doubt I will miss the extra 100hp sometimes, but at least the m package has an extra 20-30hp. For me getting a warrantee was key.
Hands down my vote would be for the 2012 with higher miles but newer vehicle for like $. My 2c worth but that 5.0 was a beast to listen to. Last edited by crunchingnumbers; 07-10-2014 at 03:17 PM.. |

If there's a CPO warranty available , get it. You really don't want to own any X6 without a warranty. I always buy the extended warranty (will get pro-rated refund if i don't keep car long enough) as crunchingnumbers did.

I would go with the 2012 35i over the 2009 50i.
Yes the v8 (50i) sounds amazing and has more pep, but there are a lot of stories and some people I know have had issues with them over the long haul. I decided to go with the v6 (35i) with this as my main concern. I also thought I would be getting slightly better mpg. I am getting around 20 mpg in city/light highway driving and I am getting 29/30 mpg on the highway when traveling for long distances. I had the N55 motor in the 2012 335i so I knew what it was capable of (or lack there of compared to the N54). Both are nice, but I would personally lean towards the 2012 35i. Also, I would recommend getting the warranty |

I think speed is more important then age because the x6 had it's model change in 2009 so it's pretty much the same car. Also the 2012 has 30k a year that's alotta driving in a short period. The 2009 only has 10k a year and that is the optimal amount of miles for a car in a year. I don't think the halo lights came out until 2013 so there really is essentially no difference in the body.
I drive a 13 x6m and I can't speak Ill of the power, it's awesome....the faster the better I say! |
