Pending X5M owner, what wheels are these?

Hi all,

Pending owner of an x5m. Wondering what wheels these are, and what the specs are?

Not a huge fan, is there a market for these?

Thanks guys, looking forward to the new ride!

they look like style 239s? I thought most X5M come with 299 or 300.

They're the OEM Style 239. I have them... 21x10" and 21x11.5". They run the same size tires as the new F85 X5///M...

Personally I love them. I would consider buying the two rears off you if you're willing to split the set.

**Edit**... I see this info has already been posted and linked... Oh well...

Just an FYI, the second link you posted to is the Style 333, OEM wheels for the X5 with the M-sport package... A great looking wheel, better looking than the Style 299 or Style 300 that the X5 and X6 M models came with...

These are very nice wheels and a major market for them... The wheels alone are prob worth $2200-2800 assuming they're in good condition with no curb marks.

Brand new I believe they run over $4,000. There might be a couple sets on ebay you could check to verify the brand new price.

I dig the OEM X5M 20's and the style 333. I definitely am not, personally, interested in running 21s on this car.

do you know if the style 333 fit the x5m? I thought I read somewhere that the hub bore was different between the regular x5 and the x5m?

also, anyone know the weight of all these different wheels?

this is my first SUV ill have ever owned, im coming from a long history of M3's

now moving on to the x5m and hopefully within a year will pair a c6 z06 in the garage to go with it

You'll need hub centric rings for the rears if you decide to go with the 333M, as the bore on non-Ms is a bit bigger. 300M will bolt right on without any mods.

OEM 333M are 20.2 kg
http://www.bmwstylewheels.com/bmw/333

OEM 300M are about 2kg lighter

I believe styles 299, 300 and 298 (winter wheels) should be the only ones that bolt right on and for other styles, you will need the hub rings for the rears.

wow, so now reading this, I have to believe that this X5M I am buying likely has hub adapter rings in the rear since it has these wheels.

how dangerous / concerning is it to run these adapters? I have always been really negative on spacers and any sort of related equipment due to the additional stress to the bearings / hub / axles.

I guess the OEM 333 would fit directly if the car already has these hub adapters in the rear.

sounds more and more like I will move on from these to a wheel specficially designed for the x5m

thanks so much for the information guys, this really helps. its always tough to come in to a new platform and have to re-learn everything

I have stock 300M for the summer and 298M in the winter so I don't have any adapters, but plenty of guys have hub rings with no problems. I think its really up to you on what you like.

Thanks for the great info! I need to learn more about the pluses and minuses of these rings, so ill do some research.

Looks like even aftermarket wheels like these OZ racing require centering rings

Just curious to as why?

I just swapped out my 20s with runflats to 21s with MPSS and the ride is 3x better. Tires make such a dramatic difference, more so than 1+/- in wheel diameter.

for sure, its a personal choice and 21s look damn good on a car this size

for me, ive always liked a little more sidewall on my cars than most, and also prefer the lower cost of the 20 inch tires.

as for tires, im uncertain about moving away from the RFT. I had no issue with the ride quality on the x5m I test drove (20s with RFT). In my experience, sidewall support and stiff sidewalls is a key component to good, firm steering and a lack of body roll.

RFT are much stiffer than normal tires, especially PSS which are somewhat soft in the sidewall. so, typically a loss in steering sharpness, a lighter steering and sense of a little more roll/float would be the result.

IF I were to go non RFT, it would either have to be a stiff tire or a wider wheel to provide more sidewall support to account for the softer tire

JMO based on experience

with that said, what is your experience with the PSS? same size as stock?

It depends...it's technically possible to install wheels WITHOUT rings...though no reputable tire shop would do this.

Using correctly sized adapter rings is 100% safe.

Sorry I was late to get back to the questions, but looks like everything has been figured. And to be honest, I keep forgetting about those hub rings. And that being said, today I'll pull my rears off and take a look. I've had a slight vibration between 60-70mph ever since we bought the truck... I'm wondering if something isn't related to those hub rings.

As for tires, I too will switch to the 21" Michelin PSS as soon as I finish burning these tires out. I'll sacrifice the steering feel a little for the better ride. I believe the RFT tires are heavier too, so it'll be nice to save a little weight at each corner.

Soo, since we're on the talk of wheel hubs again... I've been looking but too many old threads, and I couldn't find a concrete answer...

Does anyone make wheel spacers with the hub adapter already incorporated?

For instance, a 20mm spacer with the 72.56mm inner bore for the X5/X6 M hub with a 74.1mm outer diameter for the plethora of wheels we all decide to run??

Nevermind, answered my own question... And that being said, pulled my left rear off today, NO adapters... WTF!!!! So, I called Turner asap and ordered a full set of spacers, 15mm front, and 20mm adapter spacers in the back. All 4 spacers with longer bolts for $320. Will post pics when they're on.

I personally really like those wheels, but running 21s is an expensive options on the X5s.
