2013 LED Headlights

I have started looking at the perfect next car and I think I really want an E70 x5M instead of getting back into an E9x M3. I have found some stuff that gives the difference between the years and it seems the 2013 had the best options added with the LCI tails and option for the LED Adaptive headlights.

How rare is it to find a 2013 that had this option and it was available on the x5's correct. I would also like to hear any options on why any other year would be just as good as the 2013 model.

Autotrader is your best bet, Carmax second. Not every 2013 has the LED headlight option too. A low mileage example makes them few and far between.

Agreed. While they are out there, low mileage X5M's with the LED headlight option will be few and far between. They will also be expensive. If you start getting picky about price, color combinations, other options, etc. and you could soon be looking for a very long time.

I have no real set timframe and will probably be really looking at purchasing next spring. I bought an x5 msport last November for the wife and really enjoy the car and really could use the power of the suv over the e90x M3.

I found my 2013 with the LED headlights, got lucky that it also had the other options/colors I wanted as well. It had higher miles than I would have preferred, but the price was right so I pulled the trigger. Not many have the LED headlights, but they are out there.

If LED headlights are a must have, many (including myself) have retrofitted them. It is expensive and not a trivial job however and you'll need to set aside 3-4k for the conversion. Its an option in case you found the otherwise ideal car at the right price.

If searching 2013's only, I would estimate half of them have the optional LED headlights. I look all the time for fun and that's been my experience. If you're searching all E70 X5M's (2010-2013) simultaneously, then yes I'd call them a rare find.

The LED LCI tails would be standard on 2011-2013 X5M's.

I'd get a 2013 w/ the LED headlights...because of the LED headlights. The older style halogen coronas look terrible, they really date the car. And LUX bulbs are no improvement.

Just my .02.

thanks for your input. with the pricing coming down I will probably just spring for the 13. I did a retrofit in my 08 M3 and it ended up costing like 2k and I thought that was too much.

To those who already have the LED headlights. How bright are they. And do they both light up? On the E70 Xenons, only the outer lights illuminate. The inner lights are just dummies.

Not sure what measure of brightness you're asking for, but the LED headlights are a lot cleaner (whiter) and more direct than the xenons. The coronas aren't insanely bright but they distribute light better than the led coronas in the xenon unit.
