Parking brake fault!

I was going high speeds on the highway with little bit of rain and suddenly Parking brake fault was flashing on the dash and iDrive. It was pretty terrifying for a sec. Although I pulled over and tested the parking brake and it was working normally.
Parking brake had a problem last winter too and BMW changed the parking brake switch and after it was all good till now.
I wonder if this has to do with some safety sensors which throw fault when they get cold or wet. Anyone had any experience on this?

Ofcourse. Red (P) sign! and the "Parking brake fault or malfunction" warning message in the iDrive. This happens when it's wet outside.
