Of course, I'm sure its caused from leaky injectors...

I have the same loaner. You can disable that with the button right on top of the start/stop button. clicking gear selector over into sport mode also defeats it.

Yeah, the Sentra was an all time low. They keep switching cars because they can't seem to complete the work they are supposed to; they put a few scratches in my car door, forget to fix, replace the injectors and cause a squeal. I get ten miles a way and turn around to bring it back and I am at their mercy for loaners. They are doing a great job of turning a long time BMW owner away from them.

Took mine in this AM. Got a nice new 3 seires XDrive loaner (it's snowing like crazy). Love the dashboard. Very nice.

Anyway, SA told me that BMW is getting backed up with parts orders for this fix and that once the dealer figures out what is needed, we may get the X5 back while they wait for the parts to come in - then take it in again for a week.

I'll let you know.

It is N63 based vehicles for certain model years only.

If you have the factory warranty left, then take it in. If you don't, you should be talking to dealer and asking them to call BMW.

It's been 7 days since I dropped my car off. Last update I had was on Friday...dealer was waiting from BMW for authorization to perform the work.

My wife mentioned something interesting that I was hoping someone might confirm. She said that dealers were encouraged to perform complimentary detailing services and hand out prepaid gas cards (which were sponsored by BMW). Has anyone received either of these?

I had another issue that took them a week to diagnose and told them I wanted it detailed. Response was "no problem".

My appointment for recall just got moved to Friday with the blizzard we are getting here in Boston.

The campaign did mention that or something that could cost up to $50. It is a suggestion though just as was the same class or higher on the loaner.

Mine came with the crappy sprinkling that they call a car wash, no detailing, no gas card, no nothing...

So it has been confirmed that this bulletin(sneaky recall) does NOT apply to S63 engine? I would be very surprised if the same conditions that lead to the potential problems in the N63 would not also apply to the S63.

Yes and that was confirmed the day it came out.

1) It says N63 and not S63
2) The vehicles listed do not include any M model vehicles.
3) it also does not apply the first revision of the N63 engine which actually makes it more like the S63 engine.

If in doubt, call BMW.

Correct. To summarize, the service bulletin does NOT apply to the S63 engine. Many components are shared between engines. A lot of people on here feel the S63 engine SHOULD be included in the service bulletin because of this.

Ok, so mine is in the shop. Got the call today -timing chain is good but I am getting all the new bits - injectors, mafs ect. so all must have been part of a particular production run.

My car is a June 2011 build.

If you look up your build date, keep in mind the Germans do D/M/Y not M/D/Y.

Did yours also get a battery? What about Hot-Film Air Mass Sensors, Vacuum Pump, Fuel System Low Pressure Sensor/Feed Line, Air Intake Turbo Seals and Crankcase Ventilation Lines?

Mine is a March 18, 2011 build and they have confirmed I am not getting the timing chain. I'm hoping for all of the above though.

Another early 2011 Build here, no timing chain replacement either. Not sure of all the other parts but sounds like it's quite a bit, they've had the SUV for almost two weeks. For sure replacing the faulty crankcase ventilation components, which were causing me massive oil consumption problems.

Sounds like some of the parts are running very low on stock.

My 2012 was also built June 2011...you'd think mine would require the same new parts assuming the dealers are consistent (which obviously they aren't). I'll know in a few weeks.

Dropped mine off this morning...

SA said they have 30 in the shop right now. 1 day to diagnose, 1 week for BMW to review, 1 week or more to get the parts needed.

I requested a 5 series when I scheduled the service. They gave me the X1 and now have to drive over to my house and swap it out with the 5 series when it comes in. Sounds like this recall is causing a lot of headaches for them (more loaner inventory related)

My vehicle runs great but lately I've noticed a small hesitation and idle stumble at times when sitting still. Very subtle and hardly noticeable. Hopefully, when it's all said and done it runs just as good or better.

Looked at a new 50i M sport while I was there. Still can't bring myself to like the exterior. Interior obviously is very nice but I'm in no rush. I only have 33K miles on mine and it's perfect.

I just picked up my first ever BMW 1/10/2015, new to me CPO 2012 X5 50i with 24K miles. Drove it home roughly 80 miles and the check engine light came on the first restart. Not a good start! Love the car....

Called the dealer and they told me to take it to a local BMW dealer. The SA told me that a new recall just came out 12/29 and they had to keep it for a week. The week ended up being 11 days. Gave me a free loaner.. Mazda CX-5.

They ended up replacing everything except the timing chain; all injectors, vac pump, fuel feed line, decoupling element, hot-film air mass meter, various gaskets, clamps, vent pipe, exhaust solenoid, new battery, and changed the oil 9 quarts along with re-setting the CBS to 10K. It took an extra day to have BMW re-flash the system.

The production date was 10.02.2012. I'm assuming that is February 10th, based on above threads. In service date was 12/13/2012.... Almost 2 years left on original warranty plus two for CPO.

Looking forward to enjoying it for a long time.
