MCB X5M
So, I won't be doing anything crazy to this truck but minor mods here and there. Thought it'd be nice to have a thread where I can document and store some pictures of it. It will look pretty mundane compared to most of the other X5M's here, but hey it's mine and I like it. :thump:
Since I am posting from my phone, I'd have to put pictures in different posts. |

About a month ago I had a E92 M3 when I got the itch for something different. X5M was always on the list so started looking at them. Prior to the M3, I had a C63 AMG which I kept the longest I've kept any car (2 years). M3 only lasted 9 months. The colour was super rare, 1 of 1 in North America and here's what it looked like when I got rid of it. It had a Dinan exhaust, CF intake and tune. Sounded amazing and that is something I miss the most so far in the X5M. I had some other mods here and there as well.

The first thing I did was to have the dealer detail the car for me prior to pick up. And since they'll do anything for a sale, they of course agreed.

Next thing on the to-do list was the tint as I can't live without it. Got the front tint more or less perfectly matched to the rear. Very happy with the results.

The next thing I did was to install the LUX H8 angel eyes that I had on my m3. So I removed them and installed them on the x5m as they used same ones. But since I don't have a picture of them, I'll post a front shot. lol.

My progress is slow compared to what several other members so but I took this shot cause found it awesome that a random x6m decided to park beside me at my parkade. I was parked at the visitor spot that evening and I guess it was a coincidence that someone with a x6m happened to swing by. Lol.

I was bored one day and since I love the look of the darker rims I decided to plastidip them. Used a grey metallizer on top of the matte black and loved the look they gave.

Next up I decided to do some subtle mods, such as changing the reflectors and key hole cover to colour matched ones. I purchased these from another member on here and they were any easy install.
Also in this pic the tri coloured M grille can be seen. I love the look of these. Small item that changes the front end significantly. |

As the truck sits now.
I did other internal mods such as getting a front and rear dash cam hard wired as well as my escort radar detector. No pics of that but since the car started giving me a high battery drain sign I have decided to have the dash cam removed and just leave the radar detector. Will lose the install money but can not live with the constant error popping on the dash. |

And a random pic with my friend's bike. I have a bike which is completely different than this one but I just liked this pic as they sort of colour matched.

About time you started your journal. No matter how ambitious one's plans are with their respective builds we all here love to see them. Beast looks great, what's next? I know someone with parts if you need. I hear mcb engine covers are all the rage now...

Haha just feels like a shame after seeing your and boneca's thread lol. As for next, I don't think I have any specific plans. Eventually at some point I'd like to do something to the exhaust (either mod or aftermarket) and get some carbon fibre bits. I am not sure if I will do anything else. I will concentrate on the exterior first before thinking internal, that is if I ever decide to do anything under the hood. lol

Awesome brother, congrats on your journal, it's about time!
on another note I recently picked up Blackvue dashcam and also Power Magic Pro by the same company, I haven't installed it yet but I'm planning to have them both installed so I don't run in to the same issue with draining the battery, the Power Magic is only $25 and works with any dashcam so u might look in to it! I also like how some people opt for radar in rear view mirror, it looks clean, I remember Kimo gave a link some time ago for the company that does it, I would def. look in to it but if I remember correctly the price was very high, something like $500 not counting radar itself which is pretty much the same price! Good luck with your project and keep us posted! |

Thanks boneca, I had looked into the power magic pro but was under the impression that it only works with Blackvue cameras. I will have to ask the shop I guess. But at the same time I am thinking if there's even a real need for a dash cam, it's not bad having one but not a must. So I am not too bothered if I have to get it removed.

Haven't done much else to it since the last update.
Except for I put the keyhole back in and removed the delete I had done a while ago after a fellow member got screwed by not being able to get into the truck after locking themselves out. That scared the crap outta me in case if something like that happens to me, the last thing I would want to do it is have to tow it to the dealer and have the door 'popped' open. It doesn't make that much of a difference cosmetically either I don't think as people who don't really know don't look for that anyway. Will have a slightly larger update either tomorrow or in a day or so as I am getting some H&R Springs installed. Will update once it is lowered. This will be the first vehicle I will be lowering so kinda nervous/excited at the same time. |

Springs went on. Prefer the drive now better than stock. A little wobbly on bumpy roads but can't really tell as it was like that before too.
They will need to settle probably as not all 4 sides are 100% even at the moment. Ps: Quick phone pic, will try to get better ones later. |
