V1 Hardwire... color codes?

Hey all,

I tried to hardwire the V1 today using X5 wiring diagram, where the white/green wire should have power, but to my disdain it did not (I did not get a chance to get a voltmeter). Did anyone already do this (in the overhead console) so I don't have to reinvent the wheel... anyone has wiring diagrams.

Thanks

Here you go !

I have hardwired a radar detector to the overhead center console following this link. It takes 20 minutes tops. The circuit that you use is switched on and off with the key. It also will not trigger any warning lights.
Here is the link http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...tor-e70-5.html

I had it saved and it appears the website has changed. If you can't find it reply and I will get you there another way.

Do not take the car to the dealer, I was quoted over $500.00 to do what took me 20 minutes.

I will get you the step by step instuctions with pictures for beer ! (Haha)

Good Luck
Brian

Does this work in the X6? I am having serious issues with my Escort. Every couple of months it plays the Low Volt, powering off game. I have used nearly all of the front fuses and some work for a while. It's been ten months and is driving me crazy. If I use the cigaretter litter adapter, it works fine so I don't think the unit is faulty.

Ideas?

I have had my Escort hooked up for more than a year with no problems, I would put a volt meter to it and check for 12 volts. Another thing is it may be a loose connection. Good Luck !!

Which fuse are you using for the postive and what screw/body panel for the negative. My volts seem to be inconsistent.

Thanks.

Escort 9500ix Direct Wired

Got my new direct wire cord installed and it is working great. I ended up tapping into the cigaretter lighter in the front. I removed the side panels (one torx screw, two fasterner that pull out, then slide the whole panel forward and inch and it comes right out, easy to reinstall also). From there you can see the connection on the passenger side. It is a three wire plug, the center wire is power (green with brown stripe). I spliced into it and used the screws visible to the left and below for ground. They attached to a metal bracket under the console. I fed the wire control through the center console and placed the control near where the ash tray would be. I ran the other wire behind the drivers knee panel (three screws), up the piller trim and over near the mirror. Pretty easy and works great. No error codes and really clean.

Best of all, I got rid of the low volt errors I have been getting for months.

Here are some pics of the final installation.
