Their SAV lineup has been taking a beating for the past year or so.

Can we just kill off the Z4 already?

They sold 10,802 worldwide in 2014.
Thats close to double the amount of Mini Roadsters or 3 times the Mini Coupe's
Why would they get rid of it ?

Even the Mini Clubman only managed 13,326

what's amazing is the 5 series and the 7 series, they are selling well even though they are both going to be new body styles soon.

The 6 series seems to be the one really suffering. only 313 sold when a new LCI was released in March and the 2015's are being discounted tremendously and have a $4000 incentive.

Just look at the numbers they are selling compared with the hype when launched. Large amount of capital and resource invested in a car that the majority of the public don't want to buy. Added to which the oil price has now collapsed.

I agree. My dealer has several of them in stock and can't get them sold even offering them at below invoice. We should see a major liquidation at the end of the year.

Does the Z4 still carry the N54 engine?

As someone who commutes into Manhattan, I seriously considered the i3. With the right incentives, I might jump for it.

I see a highly specialized electric car that sold similar to the 6 series this month and the 1/2 series for the year.

What are your expectations for a premium priced electric vehicle? It's not going to move in numbers similar to a mass produced combustion engine sedan in this decade.

Nobody in their right mind should compare the Tesla to an i3. Given the fact that the Leaf has been around for years, people are more aware of them, and it doesn't seem weird that they sell more, then, take the price point - not everyone wants to spend the money for the luxury features. It took Tesla a bit of time to build up volume, too. If you follow the i3 forums, you'd notice people coming off lease or ready to replace their Leafs are moving to the i3.

The money spent on developing CFRP materials is not exclusive to the i3...every new BMW in the development cycle will be using some of it, and the engineering company that deconstructed the i3 at a cost of over $2M to study the engineering, says that BMW is definitely making money at their current sales volume and pricing. They liken it to the advent of the Model T - it will change the way cars are built. Everyone else is way behind. Whether you like it or not, the world and the industry is moving towards higher efficiency, and any research that gives a leg up in that (lighter, more flexible methodology, safer) is going to differentiate BMW in the field. By around 2020, every BMW model will either be all or optional as a hybrid...it's the only way to maintain performance and meet the CAFE requirements here in the USA and in Europe.

The Z4 is sort of like the unloved child but I love the current generation. Was never really a fan of the 6 series but I find the M6 GC absolutely gorgeous and would have that over a M5.

And yet all hated and laughed Toyota hybrids, and now fuel-cell. In Europe, 98 percent of Lexus sold are hybrids.

Electric doomed to be a small niche. No real investment in infrastructure in Europe, cars suffer massive depreciation and they have very high lease costs. Dealers struggling to shift i3.

Nissan is not a luxury brand and is priced as such with the Leaf. I would not compare 3 series sales to an Accord or Camry for similar reasons.

Tesla-as an entire brand is hanging everything on the Model S and the electrified concept.

Again, the i3 is not the same scenario as either when it comes to sales numbers.

How many i3's should they be selling?

EDIT: Nevermind I see you responded. I personally have no idea if its pathetic or not since I have no idea how many units BMW expected to move.
