Did you remove the water and check for shorts? Dont turn the car on unless you want to fry something. I experienced a short caused by a frayed wire, the car would shut down the electronics, im guessing to keep everything safe. This lasted for several hours.

i had a similar issue on my x5 35d. underneath the rear bumper, inside where the wiring is for the back up sensors, i found a wire that was rubbing on the bumper plastic and shorted out every time it got wet. brought it to the dealer for 3 years and they could not find it or fix it. finally i got fed up and crawled underneath the car and found the wires exposed. i cut off the exposed portion and put a sealed wire connector on it. wrapped the whole area with electrical tape so it wouldnt rub anymore and i haven't had an issue since.
