Question X5M exhaust tips size

How big in diameter we can put on the X5M? Did anyone install 4 inches? Can you please show me pictures with 3.5" and 4" tips, I'm debating between the two.

The factory tips are around 3.25" OD.
Make some mock ups using your own vehicle and decide for yourself?

Failing that, there's always google image search.

Thanks for the suggestion, I ask questions here like most of us do when Dr. Google is not able to give us accurate answer with what we're asking for

Not sure what you want people to say? I put 4" tips on my X5M and instantly gained not only horsepower but respect, and to some that's more important.

It has zero affect on anything other than your personal opinion of your own vehicle.

I am not going to change anything on my X5M to gain more hp from the already powerful truck because I don't race. I want to change the tips "just for looks", not wanting to gain respect or make it look faster but for personal satisfaction. And the question I asked is "How big in diameter we can put on the X5M? Did anyone install 4 inches? Can you please show me pictures with 3.5" and 4" tips, I'm debating between the two." I did not ask anyone about what effect they gained from doing so. If ever I want more hp, I will not waste anybody's time to give me information about exhaust tips. And I am also sure I'm not the first time in this forum to request pictures for comparison.

Go for the 3.5"s
Here, you can see my Dimisa 3.5" tips with Carbon Diffuser as compared to my Buddy's Stock X5M. I feel like it is a nice tasteful upgrade without going over the top.

(This is also the same setup that M3 Guy has).

Wow, nice!!! Looks way better than stock! That is how our trucks should look like from the factory. Thanks gixxerboy63 for sharing and thanks for the advice regarding diameter size.

Not sure if this helps you at all but I saw it recently on the forum. I've been thinking about taking the same route.

ECS sells both 3.5" and 4" tips. I runt he 4" on my Golf R and they were a perfect fit and look great. I think 3.5" is too small especially when the OE ones are 3.25". 3.75" would be perfect. I have some gloss black 4" tips in the office and might give it a shot if I can find a good welder to tack them on. I will update this thread if the exercise works.

Running 3.5", they are from a local custom muffler shop that built my exhaust. I like the bit of space in the middle of the tips

These aren't retrofit to factory - it's 3" to dual staggered 4".

Interesting mate. I think im going to get measurements from ECS and then measure the area on the stock exhaust to see if their tips will fit. I am sure we will need to weld on around 4-5 inches of extra pipe to bolt the tips on to.

Yeah on a scale of 0 to obnoxious, mines about an 11 at the moment - great for tunnels but not so great for being inconspicuous.

I've got some mini hotdogs sitting on the work bench to drop in to cut some of the high flow bark, but I haven't had the weekend time to get around to it (kids).

I doubt there's any differences in the diffuser. Mine was done by a local custom exhaust shop like 9vapors so my whole setup is custom. There is enough room in your diffuser but your tips probably won't fit on the stock muffler due to spacing. I'm just assuming you want new tips on stock muffler...if you are going custom and they are telling you your tips won't fit, find another shop...

I'll take some pics today and update this post.
