bought x6 now this help!!!!
hey guys new to the fourm and need some help i leased a 2012 x6 50...iv had it for 10 days now. the day i picked it up i drove 20 miles and had a check engine light i called the dealer to make an appt. {this was on a fri} my appt was for tues. sunday the check engine light was still on im driving on the highway and i start getting all of these lights on {abs,airbag,traction,dsc,brake,elec system} meanwhile im doing 60mph on the highway all of a sudden my power stearing goes out and the car stalls.. i limp her home and the next day i took it to the dealer. i get a phone call from the dealer stating it was and SOS modual that went bad and they are replacing it and re prog the car. in the mean time i filed a complant with bmw na. now yesterday they tell me the car is ready. i go and pick it up and drive 5 miles home about a hour later i go to get in the car to go to dinner and to my suprise all the lights are on again. i called the dealer they said to bring it in today, so this morning i went to start the car and it was dead no clicking nothing i put it on the charger and 2 hrs later got her running. and dropped it off. spoke to bmw na again and told them i want the car replaced this should not be happing to a 90 grand car that is a week old..
they said well the dealer wants to try to fix it and they would get back to me.... what do i do, i live in ny should i wait to see if it happens again and go thru lemon law ? or demand the car be replaced now |

i just spoke to the sales manger and he is going to talk to the GM tomm to see what they can do about getting me a new car... prob bc they dont want to take it as far as a lemon

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I make appointments for routine maintenance but when it breaks I drive it into the dealer then. It always easier when the dealer can experience the issue first hand.

Not sure what the Lemon law is there in NY. I think here in IL it might be 3 times for the same problem. Until you get there, no new car.
However, it could be something simple - and if they fix it and you never have the problem again, you will be very happy with this car* *well, let's be honest, there are about 10 things on this darn car that absolutely drive me NUTS. Still I really enjoy the way it rides.

It sucks you're having to deal with this on a brand new vehicle, I can only imagine your frustrations.
Most lemon laws require the owner to give the dealership some number of times to resolve the same issue before it can be considered a lemon. So no matter how it ends up they are supposed to be given a few chances to track the issue(s) down. Good luck with your new ride. |

update guys so the car was towed back to the dealer 7 days ago for anpother dead batt... the next day im told it has a miss fire, and that they found water in the gas ( funny how the last ones to put gas in the car was them) abd how i didnt have a miss fire problem when i had it its only when it got to the dealer..well today a week later i call them and they say " well the cars not ready yet we drained the fuel and changed the filters and there still is a problem, its showing crank shaft malf and injector malf.... im fed up with this dealer iv driven my x6 4 times since iv owened it the 3 weeks its been in the dealer 2 1/2 weeks for repairs i contacted corp and they dont want to do anything what should i do

But in short, some dealers have competent techs and some don't. I would try another dealer. I would also be very nice to BMW Corp - they can make a lot of things happen for you. But if you start yelling at them, it is just going to make things harder (and yes, you have every right to be upset, but remember, they don't have your car -the independent dealer does - so don't take it out on them).

After 30 days or 4 attempts in IL you have a case. Best of luck. It really sucks for that to happen. I had the same problem as far as the lights, limp mode, etc. Turned out it was the main Crank bearing and they put a new large block in. Did not seem to ever run right, so I got Cash back, and a huge discount from the manufactuer on my next one.

its funny how bmw custmer service is "great" i think it sucks... i call the gm of the dealer 4 time he is never around to take my call i left messages all 4 times.... over the past week iv left 9 messages for him and guess what not a phone call back tomm i am heading down to the dealer because that seems like the only way to talk to anyone at this dealer... on a good note bmw na came down to see the car and they are aware of the problems i am having with the car and the dealer... they said they were going to take to the gm about putting me into another model.... was thinking 535 w/msport. or 335is conv... bc this x6 has really turned me off
