my 1st X6

Hey guys!

Since my lease on my 2009 X5 30i is going to be up in a month, I decided to go with the X6. Ordered the 2012 X6 50i with the following packages:

Technology
Premium Sound
Premium Package
Cold Weather
Running Boards
BMW Apps

It'll be in Space Grey with Sand Beige Nappa Leather.

I am contemplating changing the color to Titanium Silver Metallic, but what do you guys think with my overall choice?

any particular items I should be excited for?

I feel the Heads Up Display is a must get, and don't see it listed in your post

As Heads Up Display with Stop and Go Cruise is the coolest thing ever

HUD is included with the technology package now. I agree, it's great.

Another completely frivolous, yet awesome feature is soft close doors. Its something I appreciate every day.

Stick with the Space Gray...love it on mine. Easy to maintain and doesn't show the dirt that bad.

OP is in CA, so he'll be getting US specs, hence HUD in the tech package.

I had space grey on my x5 and it was super good at hiding dirt and no swirls. I found a bit boring for me though and went with DSB on my x6. (which I pay for with dirt and swirls, of course)

If your only two choices are SG and TS, I vote SG.

I'm getting the car in ny but I live in ma for the time being. Really pumped for this car, suv that does 5.4 0-60.

Also ended up going for the space grey, sticking with the all season stock tire/rims because I can't use the performance package in the snow. Gonna tint out the windows though, probably 20's all around

I did not get the soft close door option - thought it was a waste of $600.

I regret that decision.

The option should be called "The finish closing the door option". I realized this when doing the perf center delivery and the X6M I was using had the soft close doors and every time I went to close the doors, I didn't pull hard enough and the silly $600 option took car of it for me. Today, I have my kids and about 25% of the people who get in my car, not close the doors hard enough - causing them to re-open and slam. If I had the option, none of this would be an issue.

I realize that $600 can be looked at in many ways
1. "Dude, just close the doors and save the cash"
or
2. "What is that? Less than 1% of the purchase price?"

To me, you can skip so many options on this car to save money, but heck, you can also go buy a lot less car and save money. So order that silly option, you won't regret it.

Edit - oh I would also get Active Steering. Probably my single favorite feature on this car. Makes driving my 335xi loaner a chore. Oh and for $150 I would add in the Space Saver Spare. Last but not least, make sure you never need to put more than 5 people in the car -cause if you do, get the 3 seat rear seat.
