no direct Phone entry with 6 dvd changer ?
My X6 came with 6 DVD changer in back of glove box, I have ipod nano plugged in so hardly ever use it. The problem is whenever I try to do hands free dialing the system hardly ever matches to the correct phone book entry that it uploads from my iphone.
In my X5 I could "directly" input numbers to be recognized, - "say name say number" and it would store my voice with that number. I have tried to do this with the X6 but the system doesn't seem to allow it. I did a little research and it seems to have something to do with having the 6 DVD changer which seems odd. Can someone that doesn't have the 6 DVD changer confirm that you can do direct input. If it turns out this is the case then I will start exploring how I can disconnect the DVD changer so I can have the "old style" phone entry back. Thanks |

If you sync a phone (i.e. iPhone, Blackberry, etc.) the phone's contact list is automatically downloaded into iDrive each time a sync occurs which is when you get in the car and start the engine. Once sync, All you have to do to call Bob Smith is to say "call Bob Smith" If you have two humber for Bob SMith, i.e., cell and home lable them in your phone as such for easy voice recall. Bob Smith cell Bob Smith home Bob Smith work The way you are suggesting is required for other Nav systems such as Lexus. Not everyone offers auto voice sync/calling.

I did have this on my x5 and wife has it on her 330 ,
I had to repair when she picked up a new iPhone. it's a " say name, continue ..." then store. problem with X6 system is it doesn't know the difference between Sally and Keli. Last edited by dmlgc; 02-13-2011 at 12:56 PM.. Reason: spell |
