It needs to be done through CODING so that the rear hatch could be close via the button inside the cabin and/or key fob. Some vendor charges to do it, but I usually do it free or a bottle of beer for my local friends

Ya I know I'll need a cable and a laptop. I have the software, laptop and the codes list for the settings I want to change on my X5, I'm just nervous to code the vehicle myself.
