New engine break in and tuning

I've searched the threads for engine break in period and haven't really found any info. If you ask anyone at the dealership they just say drive it how you want. I had a salesman at BMW tell me the other day that they are finding that cars that are driven hard from the start have more boost on the factory software than people who drive like a blue haired lady. Has anyone heard anything like this? Also what is the standard break in period for the N55? I plan on installing the JB tune after the the engine is properly broken in and if I'm not having any HPFP issues. Thanks in advance!
