I replaced the fogs on my 2012 x5d with PIAA Plasma Ion Crystal Yellow a few weekends ago. It only took a few minutes and it's a huge improvement over the stock fogs. got them on Amazon for under $60

Hey, thanks for the tips. I may add that in order to initiate the pulling of the bumper, the fender arches needs to be pryed out a little bit for easiest removal.

Just noticed I have a broken fog light on the drivers side of my e70 bmw x5 35d 2011. Seems like a good time to upgrade. Anyone know how to access the fog light fixture and what to replace it with? Seems like I can get OEM for about 70 dollars online. BMW wants $150 for it plus install fees...

So are these the best option for HID kit in fog lights or we have more better ones in the market?

the install was not easy though, had to remove front bumper find a spot to mount ballast and a spot for the ground wire also the bulbs are longer so they are hard to stick into the light housing especially on the driver side. but no coding needed and no errors. i can post pics later

I contacted Lightwerkz for a set of H11s in 3000k. I love them.

I changed my AE's over to some new 20W LED's and I wanted something to match them. I purchased the GP Thunder 7500K H11's and they matched perfect. Problem was that I didn't tighten one of the bulbs and it slipped out over a bump and fell down and busted. The shop that I got them from didn't have anymore so I went to ebay and purchased what I thought was another set of H11's GP Thunder 7500K bulbs. Instead of being a cool white like that last one they were really bright yellowish more so than white in color. I liked the other color better as it matched my AE's.

So I discovered there are two types of GP Thunder 7500K H11's. The light output of the Yellower H11 Fogs put out very good output(lumens) but not my color.

So if you are wanting a higher output inexpensive solution then try the GP Thunder 7500K H11's with the Black/Blue packaging which looks more professional in design. The tips of those are painted blue not silver like the ones that I originally had.

I have included pictures for reference. Some of the ebayer's call the Yellowish ones GP Thunder II.

GP THUNDER 7500K H11- with Whiter Color Range and Silver painted tips on top of bulb.

GP THUNDER 7500K H11 or GP THUNDER II 7500K H11's - Yellowish Range in color with good light output.

Attachment 812459

One of the Ebay sellers of the whiter lights / GP Thunder(I) are local to me so I will get a few pair tomorrow at their shop.

Hi, I was reading your post and wanted to match OEM headlamp color or come close, I ordered these:
DID I order the right one?
Thanks in advance.

Whether you are swapping them out for yellow bulbs or putting in HID bulbs, it'll all unfortunately cheapen the overal look of the vehicle.

Subjective comment at best.

Cheapens? Next we can talk about how someone putting on Continental Tires cheapens the SUV too?

BMW went from Yellowish lights in the Angel Eyes to their current lineup they went with LED Angel Eyes so does that cheapen them? Since this was the look everyone wanted before the LED AE's were 'stock' in the cars/suv's.

It's all personal taste. I put LED DRL's on my X5 recently. I have yet to meet someone who has seen them to say they look cheap. Believe me I have some overly honest friends. Car nuts to the core and BMW enthusiasts to the bone. If we put something on we don't like someone will say something.

It doesn't mean we will change what we put on but we will have to hear it.

To each their own.

Indeed quite subjective. I agree with you. I, such as many fellow BMW owners, can very easily spot what came stock from the factory vs. what was added aftermarket. Personally, many aftermarket parts I feel cheapen the look of the vehicle. I am a big OEM fan, and unless I can replicate the OEM look (such as retrofitting the LCI LED coronas), I will not perform the modification. When I see a BMW coming down the street with obvious aftermarket lights, I associate it with a cheapened look. I understand the need to "stand out" since our vehicles are quite common, but let's not do it at the expensive of "modding for the sake of modding".

Does unplugging and/or removing the fog lights altogether cause a CEL?

Fog Light Fuse?

I changed out my left fog light (twice) on my 2010 X6 but no luck. Is there a fuse that controls that lamp? Location?
Maybe related, the car system display says the left brake light is out - it isnt. Do I need to clear a code?

Thanks - newbie to this forum
