Must use TPMS?

This is probably a stupid question, but I couldn't find anything through the search engine.

Do you have to use TPMS on your wheels? Looking for a set of winter rims, and some of them do not have the tpms mounted even though the rims have tires on them?

Thanks

You don't have too, but your light will be on in your cluster. Unless you pull the fuse and have tpms disabled through coding

I think (and may be wrong) you can code EU settings, when the tire pressure monitoring is done via ABS sensors, so you get it working w/o TMPS.

But the worst case scenario you just drive with annoying yellow light, which can be fixed with a piece of electric tape

interesting I just disabled mine... If I could code FTM instead of TPMS that would be sweet! I'll have to look into that.

I am still using a set of wheels and tires from my old 2002 X5 on my 2010 X5. No tire pressure monitors. I just live with the light from about December to March.
