BMW performance update - yes or no?
Thinking about the BMW performance update for my 2012 X6 5.0 I am fairly certain its a straightforward software update and supposedly adds 40 HP
Do it or don't do it?? Please share your thoughts. |

Service bulletin: I can now confirm that the performance upgrade is NOT compatible with the 2012 X6. The installation was attempted on my X6 this morning and failed. I give the dealer credit though, they gave it a valiant effort.

Most definitely, you won't regret it. Huge gains, the torque is amazing.

Is it worth doing if I don't plan on upgrading the exhaust? I'm leasing so I don't want to get too carried away. I can justify the cost for 70ish HP gain, but the exhaust (though I'd love to) is out of the question. So with that said, still do the flash upgrade? ::lease tell me it is:::

LOL...not quite burning a hole. But as I was saying with another member earlier today, this car just makes me want to add-on and upgrade, tune and modify. I feel like a teenager again. Thank G*d it's leased...if I actually owned it I'd go broke...brakes, exhaust, body kit, tigers and bears oh my!!

When the Dinan upgrade is done does it need to be undone when taken in for service? Also does it ever get wiped when taking it for service? Sorry if these are obvious questions...I'm new to all this upgrading.

I had a lot of error messages and lights come when I first got the car, for about a year. But I haven't seen one in a while, and all clear since the tune was done which was in January and about 10,000 miles ago. I just take it for service like nothing was done. I'm pretty sure it can be wiped if the dealer needs to install serious updates. Then you can have it flashed back.

If that happens is the re-flash no-charge?[/QUOTE]
I haven't had to deal with that yet, but I doubt it is no charge, unless you had the tune done at a BMW dealer, then you might have a chance. |

I think they pulled it starting in 2011 because of the new 8 speed trans. I'm hoping they bring it back after making sure the trans can handle it. Had a chance to pick up a 2010 with this option but it sold before I could even get to the dealer to test drive (one day).
