With a lot of work it might be... First, the entire exhaust system is different: This is the 35d's exhaust system: Here is what the 50i's exhaust system looks like: Also, the entire bumper on the back is different due to the cutouts for the exhaust tip finishers: The image for the 35d and 50i is the same however the part numbers for the 8 Cylinder version is different (number 3 in the above diagram). I'm not sure if it's worth the trouble... It's up to you if you really want to change all that just for the different looks. I would suggest you wait for some aftermarket kit that I'm sure someone will offer one of these days.

50i has exhaust flow valves...
I see the 50i has the exhaust flow valves similar to what I have seen on Ferrari. So, I guess you could modify them to be open all the time, and make the vehicle much louder around town. I wonder if that would cause a check engine light? I wonder how it would sound?
I am waiting to order my 2009 50i and the dealer has my deposit. |

For looks only? you can just buy the 5.0 rear apron, and exhaust tips.

driver side only, that is just a part of M package for x3,but in real x3 doesnot have such a powerfull engine and need for exhaust for both sides...ther is no M model, just M aerokit and exhaust system.

Well, look at my above post, the tips of the 50i don't exactly fit the 35d (or 30d, 35i) exhaust system. So there is still some sort of modification needed. Considering how much the rear apron would cost you alone (not to mention that you have to get it paint matched), this is an EXPENSIVE mod just to change the looks to match the 50i... IMHO!

I think here in Canada and the US, the X3 always came standard with a dual exhaust pipe. It may not look exactly like yours but pretty close to it. Looks good though!

This is my own opinion. Why would folks try to fake-remake a car to be something they haven't bought? Be proud of what you got and stop faking your car to be something it isn't. Really strange behavior! It's like those M stickers and badges people are putting on BMW's which isn't a M-Model or got the M-Package... for me this is funny. Get the aftermarket parts for your model instead.

Its not faking. Its just because the exhaust tips on 50i looks much better than the ones on other models.
I am not changing the xdrive35d model badge, its a totally different action than you think.

It looks like if BMW would have made the bumper plastic trim around the 3.0 tail pipes snap in instead of molded into the bumber, the 5.0 trim could be easily swapped and new tips installed.
Most likely they did this on purpose even at the expense of having two bumper designs.

At first, I thought that the part surrounding the tail pipes is a snap in part, but when I looked at the diagrams, it became apparent that the surrounding area is part of the entire lower bumper...
