Seat protector for infant car seat?

I just fitted the Chicco Keyfit 30 in the back of the X5. Looking fresh, although my 5'10" wife doesn't have much room left in the passenger seat. In any regard, I want to protect those rear seats. I assume some of you already have kids. What do you use to put in between the infant car seat and the leather?

I used to just put an old towel, folded up a bit, in between there. Seemed to do the job and I never had any permanent damage to the leather. Would still get some minor indentations from the seats being cinched down so tight, but they'd typically go away. Those infant seat days are over for us - now they just track mud and crap into the back and get it all over

I think there are some purpose built mats just for this setup, but not positive on that. I actually thought I saw a member here mention something they were using to protect the rear seats?

I had the back of my front seats wrapped in 3m along with the front half of the truck this weekend to protect the paint, as far as under the baby seat I went to buy buy baby they have a variety of nice thick seat covers to protect your leather, I think it cost around $35-$50

My britax has an optional rubber mat made for capturing food and stuff.. No different than rubber floormat material.

I'm sure you can use something similar to the britax accessories.

We've currently got 2 car seats in our X, and the mats we have are made by Summer Infant or something like that... "Summer" something, I know that much... They're pretty nice and can be folded depending on how high up the seat back you want it to go. They also have a little flap that hangs down over the cushion front edge with a few pockets to hold zippy cups and toys and stuff...

Geezus, this post is so unfortunately lame yet so necessary too... Parenthood...

Used this same one for infant seat and convertible. Don't know the make off the top of my head but got it on Amazon for about $30.

If you have kid(s), you need to get the rear seat covers. They are awesome for protecting your rear leather from all stuff that kids do to cars as well as protect the seats from the car seats. I have had it my all of my e70's.

I have this same one in my X5, and it's been bulletproof. You'll also want one of the seat back protectors that hangs off the front seat and covers its back, as little kicking feet tend to grind dirt into the seat back at a level that's all but impossible to remove.

Great feedback. Do you have a link so I can buy one?

No worries... Also, rereading your original post, I noticed you mentioned putting it between the "infant" car seat and the leather... To be honest, the infant stage is no issue. The time you really need the thing is when they have sippy cups and little snack cups full of Cheerios..

And don't for a second say anything to the effect of "My kid won't have food in the car..." Hah, I tried that too. Not a chance! Its not that bad really, just plan to remove the car seats and clean under them whenever you wash the X. And with that being said, get proficient at removing and safely installing the car seat. Good luck and congrats on the little one!

Good to know. I was going for the rubber mat that moabite has to start off with to protect the leather from dents. And then eventually the item that you mentioned.

And yes, I'm going with the "my kid won't eat food in the car" for now. Let's see how long that lasts. And thanks for the well-wishes. Just a few weeks away...

Sweet man. I wanted a boy but the minute I had a little girl I was over the moon, don't feel bad at all about not getting a boy.
