2013 X5M (47K mi) Realistically what's she got left in her?!
Hey all, I have an opportunity to buy a 13 X5M with 47K miles on it and was curious how much life it'd have left in it? I know there's a ton of factors to consider such as previous owner and how hard it was driven, maintenance, etc. I do know it was a lease turn in and bought and maintained at the same dealership. From what I've been told it was driven by an older couple although that doesn't really mean anything, who regularly leases M vehicles from them. It's fully loaded and asking is $46K. I'd definitely be interested in an extended warranty and if I bought it I'd like to be able to keep it for a good 6-7 years (I drive right about 12K a year). That'd put me over 100K pretty quickly. Anyway, is it realistic to think you could get that kind of life out of this one without spending a fortune in the shop? Any and all advice and or experience would be great!
Thanks! |

I can tell you that I have that same year and it has 85k on it and I drive mine moderately hard have had no issues with the car other then very small things. I feel pretty confident that it will run me a very long time I bought an extended warranty when i bought it and It had come though for me when these small things have happened.

Hey thanks for the reply! I don't plan on driving it hard by no means (I have four little ones) and asides from an occasional on ramp or the such. If you don't mind me asking, what kind of warranty did you get and what was the term?
Thanks! Last edited by vabeachrunner; 09-06-2016 at 07:34 PM.. |

Your buying an M do you have any experience with M vehicles?
A brake job would easily cost north of $2k for all four wheels depending on where you go and parts you use ... rotors alone cost around $1.2k ... and that is without stealership markups. 47k miles is nothing in terms of mileage ... if you were looking at something with 300k miles on the clock then it would be a different story |

It will go 200k if you take care of it. You'll refresh a lot of rubber - belts, hoses, gaskets, bushings - at 100k to get it there. Over-change all the fluids. Good luck.

Damn, is this what it's come down to w/ E70s....47K miles and wondering how much life it has left? Like any car it will keep going as long as you pay to maintain it and keep it going, and obviously with it's ///M badge maintenance will be considerably more than an non-///M.
I think we'd all agree it will go 200K+ miles if you keep paying to keep it going |
