Agreed, I ran countless VINs thru the decoder during my search, and active cruise was a needle in a haystack. Probably saw it just a couple of times. I feel like it was a rather pricey option new? Would need to check the build guide…

Its odd the dealer stated the car has tech package. I am having my friend at BMW run the build sheet for me.

In 2012/2013, the Convenience package was reconfigured to include Convenience and Tech equipment from 2011. In other words, the Technology package is pretty common on 2011's, but is more desirable on 2012/2013's as it includes HUD, side-view cameras, and auto high beams….none of which were part of the 2011 Technology package. Honestly, I would keep looking. You've got a modded E92, you need at least Sport or M Sport on your X5! And you're gonna want one with Multi-Contour seats. If you have desired preferences on packages/options, post them up….many of us on this forum are looking just for fun |

so i thought i saw a few 2012s with navigation (so like the older bmws where you get the screen but it does not have navigation) Now all of a sudden there is a bunch of 2012s popping up!

Hello, you don't say what the use of the car is for, DD with short or long commute? Weekend driver, kid hauler? It helps so people can know what options might be important.
I have found buying an X5M made it so the car was well optioned to begin with but don't know if that would fit the bill. The option I love and wouldn't live with out is Comfort Access. Track down Pax5? he had a line on the Mannheim Auctions in the Chicago Town area. If you have a couple month time line I would go after that. Good luck, John |

I would use the car as my daily. During the work week I drive about 30 miles a day (from home to work and back) I love driving so I am the one that usually drives all my friends around. I do not have kids, just looking to get into a SUV (came from having a 335i, 528, and now a Lexus GS300) I did look at a x5m, but I drive way too much to make it worth it. I want something that will plow around in the winters of Chicago and will be a nice cruiser to work and then when I spend way too much money at Costco. I will give Pax5 a pm and see what he can offer. thanks for that heads up on that. |

Regarding the throttle response delay, I believe it is more the transmission than the engine. On our 35d, the delay goes away if we are in sport mode...this forces the trans into 1st gear. Not sure if the 35i is the same.
As far as recommending the X5, it is the first vehicle we will probably purchase off lease. We like it that much!

Side note, anyone have a upgrade system in their car? I plan on doing a upgrade system depending on how the system is (whichever I get) I want to see what options are available for a subwoofer.

Unless you're super particular about sound, just stay away from option '645 Radio Control US' (on LCI U.S. models, you'll only find this on 2011 35i's w/o the Premium Sound Package). '676 Hi-Fi Loudspeaker System' or '677 Hi-Fi System Professional' will likely suffice….they're pretty similar. 677 as I understand it adds 2 additional speakers in the far back, a glovebox DVD player, and an equalizer. I couldn't really tell the difference between these 2….645 is noticeable terrible. 676 is standard on all 2012 + 2013 models, with 677 being an option. There's some thread on there that may help - here one… http://www.xbimmers.com/forums/showt...=audio+upgrade |

Replace tweeters, add jl audio stealth sub, and amp your system using a quality 5 ch amp and LOC. The bmw mids are rather decent when amped
