Just be careful oil doesn't get soaked on the wrap. Better to upgrade to m5 manifold and m5 turbos as those manifolds have less heat soak. They are not double walled and have better flow. Just swap 02 sensors. I wrapped my downpipes only.but wrapped in aluminum foil tape also. The glue will burn off when you first start up for a bit. Makes it a bit safer if you accidentally get some oil on the wrap.

That sounds good. I'll look into it. Thanks

I think I will also consider using the intake port which would normally be for the PCV and try to get a WMI injection in there. But I am reading that it's best to have the WMI injection higher up.....closest to the turbo..... So that the water part of the water meth mixture (50/50) actually gets vaporized.... since we don't want water making it into the engine.

But not too close, since the meth is flammable..... Idk. Tricky things to consider

Got a few things done the weekend ... Turbos mounted and started the install. Cleaning up those banjo metal lines in the mineral spirits wash. Do these leak? They looked like they had stains on them (not pictured) but probably from the original copper washers going bad. I didn't wanna replace them since the dealer wanted like $100 for each.

I have to find the right size t fittings for the coolant hoses that T off to the turbos. I replaced these $100 hose assemblies but not liking the plastic T fittings. It looks like it's 11mm ID. Brass or stainless?

Gotta love the little Pure logo on the turbo blades.

Got a bunch more stuff assembled today.... Ran some nice blue silicone vacuum lines.....

I see bmwfans.info was down today, lucky for me I remembered the realoem.com page.

Was working on renewing the air duct manifold which connects from the turbos to the intercoolers, and it seems the rubber hose/boots are not sold separately; even tho there are BMW parts numbers on them. It seems they had a hidden prefix to the part numbers , but I didn't find them after a few minutes of searching. Oh well. Will buy some dooded up stuff from Amazon and see how it works (pop! Is gonna be from the pressure i imagine)

And after cleaning up both intercoolers, one has a hole/ puncture. Prob from either disassembly or was dropped. I'll have to scavenge the one on the dead motor.

And those dam MAP sensor connectors. Such brittle plastic. Broke the driver's side intake manifold and intercooler plastics. Smh. Scavenge those too from the dead motor. More parts on order. Until next week or two. Slow process.......

The T connectors for the coolant feeds on the turbo i went with was from McMasterCarr:

https://www.mcmaster.com/catalog/129/200/5670K68

1/2"
stainless steel
barbed

temperature rated up to 750F

Cant trust the stock plastic junk. the last ones were all shattered and fell apart on removal.

I really wish the f10 m5 intercoolers could be swapped in here. Move everything around , cut this and that. I'd have to find some in a junkyard to test fitmet. But doubtful I'd find anything

Edit: I did see a bunch for sale on eBay for around $130. Maybe I'll buy one for experimentation

I'll have to spend more time searching on the forums to see how far others have gotten attempting this

Sounds more of a headache, since they would just look good and who knows what cutting and nonsense would have to get done. I'll still look into it tho. lol. Remove passenger headlight permanently.

Your turbos look really good !!

I managed to find an n63 entire engine (with update block) (bent rods due to hydro lock)
Comes with
8x Injectors index 12.
1x bran new alternator
Set of bran new forged I beam kingteck rods
Set of bran new arp rod bolts.
Wiring harness
Hpfp.
Vannos solanoids
Fuel rails
N63 turbos.
N63 catalytic converters
Entire engine ( with bent rods)

If the block is usable I will sleave it. If not. Well I still got 8x index 12 injectors.
Paid 2400 AUD for the lot.

Found from a guy who didn't complete his project. And sold me the lot.

N63 block is same as s63

Thanks

Wow that's a good deal, all those parts

Let me me know if you have questions

I'll also have some parts for sale, that were off the working donor motor

Like factory pistons, wrist pins, curved rods, etc. Ill probably just list them on eBay and post the links. Seems a bit more reputable than just forum selling posts

I bet that's what happened to mine. I won't know til probably next year, as I just assumed it was dead and bought a replacement motor. I do recall, checking the intercooler reservoir, that it was empty

I'm a bit slow on the uptake and searching, but I see the F90 M5 intercoolers / charge air coolers are smaller than the F10 M5 intercoolers. Possibility of working? Theyre so much more expensive on eBay (obv cause newer and less wrecked ones around).

reason for all this? My stock intercooler on the drivers side has a hole in it and I don't wanna ghetto alumalloy it as I don't know if the fins inside are also damaged. So need a replacement. Ill probably just use the one on the motor that's toast.

Did anyone size it up or was it totally not worth it besides the aesthetics looking good/different and then negatives of the unknowns and custom hoses/routing?

Finally had some time to work on the x6m tonight, I had replaced the rear trunk shocks a while ago but never ran the new wires. Wow what a PITA that was. So many body panels had to come out and luckily I already had the truck gutted from the mice problem I had.

Don't ever break your trunk shocks or force the truck open/close, it's a real nightmare

Now I have to deal with all the mice pee and droppings in the headliner. They had a 3 bedroom penthouse up there.

And that headliner replacement is a small fortune, something like $1300?

Smh
