Old threads never die....
During the install for the Megan cat-back system, how is the plumbing for the vacuum lines handled? I would assume all four pipes are active on the Megan all the time vs. activated on the stock unit? |

There are no valves on the Megan, so the vac line are not used. They can be plugged onto the two studs that extend down.
and I doubt it will fit a non M It has two large tips on each outlet side. How would that fit your bumper of a non M? I think only M models have twin outlets

The vacuum lines can be plugged off at each "T" on the main line running along the inside of the bumper. You will want to leave the main line in place, but remove each line that runs down to the OE valves.
The muffler seems to be holding up just fine. I would recommend to anyone looking at this muffler to get it with rolled tips. The thin walls on mine don't look that great. I may change it or black them out. |

as far as holding up? still shiny, no rust. i am pretty sure it is s/s. sounds good, no rattle, droan, broken resonator. For the price??? You cannot beat it. Tips look cool. sounds louder, and look at what you save over an Akra, eisenmann, Dinan or whatever other ripoff muffler was made for the M.

Looking for a vid of this with UR Downpipes. I already have the DPs, looking at getting the muffler and throwing on an X-pipe where the pipes come together in the gas tank to get rid of the twin 4 cylinder sound and make it sound like a proper V8.
Anybody done this yet? Been working on getting MagnaFlow to do a full cat-back system, but I don't know how much longer I can deal with the stock exhaust. And I sure as hell ain't spending thousands of dollars on an exhaust. I don't see how people can even consider overpaying for the German parts that are no better than anything else. |

Heard this muffler in person today. Not bad without downpipes. Not great either. I don't understand why BMW chose to keep the 2 cylinder sets separate rather then bringing them together with an X-pipe or balance tube. It would sound so much better and probably make more power too.
I'm thinking about getting it, but I really wanted to keep the valves in the exhaust. I drive around my senior citizen parents in this truck, and having a loud exhaust isn't a good thing (well, it is to me, but not them). Last edited by Mike_L; 07-27-2013 at 11:42 AM.. |

Ultimate Racing is IMO the most reasonable. They're the cheapest by far. Also have AR Designs, Agency Power, Supersprint, Akrapovic, Gintani and a couple of others that I can't think of right now.
I'm actually about the pull the Ultimate Racing ones off my M when I get it back from the dealer. Its a lemon, and I'm working with BMW to get rid of it, so it needs to go back to stock. Not sure if I'm keeping them or not. If I get another N63/S63 car I can reuse them. If I get an N55, which is looking pretty likely, they'll have to go. |
