Am I right to pass on this x5?

Had an inspection done on a used 2007 X5 4.8 today.

the good:
very clean, 80k miles, one owner car, no accidents, full BMW maintenance history, loaded with options.

the bad:
valve stem oil seals leaking ($4,000 repair), steering rack very slight leak ($3100 part + labor), ARS units slight leak ($1,400 each)

After taking this into account, the best price I was offered the car for was $17,300 incl. all tax, tag, fees etc, as-is.

There's no way it makes sense for an 07 at that price needing those repairs, right?

Shit that's crazy!

Hell I got a 2012 premium with 3rd row seating that has 100k miles extremely clean for 13k but I needed to replace the transfer case which is not cheap $3300! Just for the part.

Also had the valve cover seal and cover replaced and oil canister seal replaced and all fluids changed new plugs and belt & carbon blasting, all cost about 3k otherwise it's solid, one owner and clean title. Because of the air bag recall and high mileage they sold it to me for what they gave the guy for trade. And I was responsible for all the fixes. However they did give me brand new tires!

So all in I'm under 20k Still a hell of a deal.

You would be at 26k before your all done and it's a 2007! Also unless your paying cash interest rates on a car that old will be higher.

1st off, great decision getting a PPI.

You're into the mid, prolly high 20's for an '07 by the time everything is sorted out...way too much. I'd pass and keep looking for sure.

Mine is a 2011 low mid $20's none of those issues and decent miles. Let me know if interested.

Thanks guys. I had spent so much time researching this car's history, I think I felt too invested in it.

I sincerely appreciate the opinions, definitely going to pass it up.

Stay away from these cars. Value is plummeting with airbag and quality issues. These cars are unreliable and I have owned 10 bmws

I disagree with the unreliable part, as we've had zero issues with our '12 35d for the first 62k miles so far.
