Thumbs up Air bag part came in.

Had a loner from my BMW dealership for 22 days and got a call yesterday that the X5 airbag part came in. Air bag igniter replaced. I thought it was going to be a lot longer wait, now its time to sell.

BMW SA told me I could rent a car on their dime. I figured if BMW is footing the $1k monthly bill, parts will probably come in faster. But I just couldn't pull myself into a Nissan Altima for who knows how long, and letting our 35d sit.

On a different note, as suggested on another forum, I checked my VIN in the recall database and found zero open recalls on our '12 35d, as have many other X5 owners. So maybe BMW has changed their position on the faulty airbag replacements?

The recall is still active - apparently a database glitch is the reason for the missing recall in the recall DB.

My BMW SA had Hertz pick me up and that i was going month to month on the loaner. All i provided was my DL and a credit card in which they put 50.00 deposit on it. I was given a choice of Tahoe, Camry, chrysler 200 etc. I choose a 2016 Yaris, if i was going to have the car for that long i wanted something good on gas. BMW also pays for the rental insurance. Ask for a loaner from your dealership and i am sure you will get your recall fixed faster. Good luck.

Wow! My SA told me BMW would only cover up to $35/day, nothing more.

I get the current model 3 or 4. Turned in one with a flat and empty tank( you are supposed to fill it since it was full). Never heard back from them.
Found out that the X4 will never be on my wish list, it drove horribly.
